Brenden & Amanda

Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State we live in: Maryland

dear expectant mother

There are no words that can ever express how grateful we are that you are taking the time to get to know us during this confusing time. We cannot understand what you are going through nor the decisions you must make, but we can make certain promises to you. If you decide we are the family for your child, we will always be there to make sure they are loved and supported unconditionally. We will make sure they are in a household full of wonder and encouraged to make and learn from mistakes. We will be there to kiss their boo-boos and laugh at their jokes. Brenden makes a few dad jokes, so they’ll be in good company.

Your child will always be our number one priority. You are a part of him or her and will always have a presence in their life to the extent you are comfortable with. If you choose us, we will make sure you are honored as you will have given us the greatest gift anybody ever could. They will know this decision was made out of love.

We grew up with supportive parents, family, and friends, and we will provide that for him or her. As parents, we believe it will be our place to raise him or her to be their best self as they grow and learn who that is. We look forward to helping them on that journey.

Your child will always be our number one priority.

-Brenden & Amanda

About Us

We met in a Civil War class in college and spent the first year of our relationship studying in different countries, which helped us to learn to communicate effectively. Two and a half years later, Brenden got down on one knee with a Cinderella slipper in Disney World after making a scavenger hunt with his brother’s help. A year later, we were married in front of our family and friends, and we continue to grow together as we build our lives. Our story reflects our personalities: we are thoughtful and prepared, a little corny, and always a team. We both work in financial services, where we help our customers achieve their goals. Self-described geeks, we enjoy Marvel, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings. We have been to 24 countries together and love to travel. We can’t wait to experience the next great, biggest adventure yet: being parents.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a house in the suburbs of Maryland. The elementary school is within a five-minute walk from our house. We are able to drive to Baltimore and DC to enjoy zoos, festivals, and museums. We enjoy driving the short distance to Civil War historic sites as well as local parks. We have a great neighborhood for walking our dogs, Thor and Loki. Thor is a very loving, intelligent labradoodle who loves playing keepaway with his toys and long walks. Loki is a mischievous cockapoo who enjoys cuddling, naps, and ice cubes.

Our Extended Family

Brenden grew up in Maryland and is the oldest of four with two brothers and one sister. His mom, one brother, and sister live on Virginia’s coast. His other brother lives in our basement apartment, so we already have a built-in babysitter! Amanda’s an only child whose parents still live in the South Jersey area she grew up in. She would go to her grandparents’ house for tacos every birthday and had pool parties with her many cousins every summer.

We take trips to see each other throughout the year and go on at least one vacation, typically Disney. Our parents are already requesting daily pictures. We love to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Halloween with our friends. We are honorary aunts and uncles and look forward to them meeting their new cousin. After Thanksgiving, our five Christmas trees come out. Amanda gives Brenden an ornament that represents that year. Our families stay at our house a few days before Christmas with activities each day, from having dinner with friends to watching It’s a Wonderful Life. We look forward to every Friday night movie, Saturday morning pancakes with cartoons, evening walks with the dogs, and every moment in between.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always envisioned having children. While we haven’t been blessed with biological children, we have always considered adoption. We have seen firsthand how positive the experience can be through Brenden’s grandfather, friends from college, and Amanda’s boss, all of whom were adopted. Our friends from college post every adoption day about how proud they are to have been adopted. Many of our friends have children we have been fortunate enough to help raise, and this has inspired us to begin our own parenthood journey. We look forward to welcoming a child into a home full of love, curiosity, and warmth.
