Brenden & Amanda

Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State We live in: Maryland

dear expectant mother

There are no words that can ever express how grateful we are that you are taking the time to get to know us during this confusing time. We cannot understand what you are going through nor the decisions you must make, but we can make certain promises to you.

If you decide we are the family for your child, we will always be there to make sure they are loved and supported unconditionally. We will make sure they are in a household full of wonder and encouraged to make and learn from mistakes. We will be there to kiss their boo-boos and laugh at their jokes. Brenden makes a few dad jokes, so they’ll be in good company.

Your child will always be our number one priority. You are a part of him or her and will always have a presence in their life to the extent you are comfortable with. If you choose us, we will make sure you are honored as you will have given us the greatest gift anybody ever could. They will know this decision was made out of love.

We grew up with supportive parents, family, and friends, and we will provide that for him or her. As parents, we believe it will be our place to raise him or her to be their best self as they grow and learn who that is. We look forward to helping them on that journey.

Yours truly,
Brenden and Amanda

About Us

Having been together for the last 15 years, we have had the privilege of growing up alongside each other. We met in college, Brenden proposed with a scavenger hunt at Disney World, and we were married at a historic inn. We enjoy traveling the world, personalizing our house, and trying new recipes and local eats. We are self-described nerds with a love of Marvel, Disney, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. Amanda is a driven and artistic old soul who enjoys painting and giving unique gifts to friends and family. Brenden is active and intelligent with a love of all games and creating new pieces out of wood. He hates sitting still for long. We love to work on projects together and are best friends. We are excited for the next chapter in our lives.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a house in the suburbs of Maryland with a lot of green space for sports or camping. We can see a tree farm from our house. We have a great location to commute to DC and Baltimore for museums, concerts, and festivals. We live close to historical monuments from the Revolutionary War and Civil War. We have a great neighborhood for walking our dogs, Thor and Loki. Thor is a very loving, intelligent labradoodle who loves playing keepaway with his toys and long walks. Loki is a mischievous cockapoo who enjoys watching TV, naps, and ice cubes. They both love to cuddle and steal each other’s toys, and they are great with kids.

Our Extended Family

Brenden grew up in Maryland and is the oldest of four, with two brothers and one sister who live on the Virginia coast. We love to visit them as it gives us the perk of a readymade beach trip. His brothers aren’t just his brothers but his best friends. Amanda is an only child whose parents still live in the South Jersey area she grew up in. She has a large extended family that meets at least once a year.

We take family trips to see each other throughout the year and go on at least one vacation, typically Disney. We go on an annual hiking trip and love to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Halloween with our friends. We are honorary aunts and uncles, and they look forward to meeting their new cousin. After Thanksgiving, our five Christmas trees come out, and Amanda gives Brenden an ornament that represents that year. Our families stay at our house a few days before Christmas with activities each day, from having dinner with friends to watching It’s a Wonderful Life. We look forward to every Friday night movie, Saturday morning pancakes with cartoons, evening walks with the dogs, and every moment in between.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always envisioned having children, and even prior to getting married, we always talked about adopting. We have seen firsthand how positive the experience can be through Brenden’s grandfather, friends from college, and coworkers, all of whom were adopted. Our friends from college post every adoption day about how proud they are to have been adopted. Many of our friends have children we have been fortunate enough to help raise, and this has inspired us to begin our own parenthood journey. We look forward to welcoming a child into a home full of love, curiosity, and warmth.
