dear expectant mother

No matter how you end up reading this letter, whether you pick us or not, we want you to know you’re loved and we admire you. We honor your choice and would consider it the greatest privilege and responsibility if you were to choose us to love your baby. We acknowledge your journey and how it could allow us to become mothers. We chose the open adoption option to ensure the door is open for whatever role you want to play, at any level you’re comfortable with. If you choose us, we will never be able to say thank you enough for the gift you’re giving.

We expect that whatever is next, although it may be hard, the outcome will be full of love. We feel equally prepared and scared, excited and nervous, but we know the result is more family. We are confident this baby will be safe, supported, loved, and accepted, and we hope that any time you think about them, you know these are all true. Brittany is excited to teach the baby everything about music and Pixar movies, and Taylor is excited to read to them every night and teach them how to cook. We can’t wait to have weekend adventures and create a life full of laughter, dancing, singing, and all that life throws our way.

We, our families, and our faith community are thinking of you. We hope we get the opportunity to meet you and say thank you in person.

About Us

We grew up in Christian homes, Brittany in Texas and Taylor in North Carolina. Both of our families are warm, maybe overly loving. In 2004 we met at a Christian camp that focuses on doing minor home repairs in the community. We both love camp and how loving and accepting it is while challenging us to love our neighbors not from a position of privilege but of learning. We love it so much that we still work for the organization today. We stayed in touch throughout the years and remained friends. In 2011 we had the opportunity to see each other multiple times and finally, in 2012, had the nerve to have a relationship conversation. Brittany moved to North Carolina in 2012. Taylor’s family was incredibly accepting. Although Brittany’s family took some time, we finally got everyone on the same page in 2020 and married on November 20, 2021!

Our Home & Pets

We live in North Carolina. We love taking advantage of all our state offers, with beautiful mountains, beaches, great food, and all four seasons. When we can, we bring our two dogs along for adventures. We have a five-year-old shih tzu (Sully) and a three-year-old beagle (Wilson). Sully is full of life and in charge, and Wilson is lazy and loves a belly rub. We love that we can see live theater and music. We live in the best school district in our city and commit to ensuring our child will have a well-rounded education and life experiences. We are close to our faith community, where we work with the student ministry. (They are also excited!)

Our Extended Family

We both come from large families full of rich traditions, lots of laughs, good food, and music. Brittany has a brother who is 30, is married, and has a six-month-old little girl. Her sister is 21 and just graduated from college. Her mom is her #1 fan and worrier! Her stepdad and bio dad are great father figures. Collectively, she has 19 cousins. Her family is blended and always sets the table for extras.

Taylor has a brother who is 35, is married, and has a one-year-old boy and another on the way. Her mom loves without abandon and is always supportive. After her dad passed away in 2008, her mom remarried. She gained a stepbrother with a three-year-old boy and a stepsister with a four-year-old boy and two-year-old girl. She is very close with all of her 11 cousins and their families.

We take every chance to be with our families to honor traditions and make new ones. Some traditions include watching The Santa Clause multiple times during the season, watching Home Alone on Christmas Eve, and always dancing on the back porch.

What Led Us To Adoption

We finally feel like we have an open, accepting, and safe environment on both sides of our family. We have loved each other for ten years and have always talked about how that love could extend to a baby. We want to be a safe place for a child to grow and thrive. Our brothers are both having babies, and we are excited to bring another cousin into the mix. We have a supportive family unit and an awesome group of friends who have encouraged us to expand our family.
