Family Type: Lesbian Couple
State we live in: Wyoming

dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

You are one of the strongest people we can imagine. We have gone on about the tough decision we have had to make to start our adoption journey, but the strength and compassion you have to consider us to love and care for your child is just amazing. The selflessness it takes to put your child first is not something many people can do. These are traits we hope to instill in our children. We really look forward to getting to know you and supporting you on this journey as much as you need. We are so grateful you are taking the time to learn about us and considering our family to adopt your baby. Our hearts are full just thinking about it!

Bryttne has guardianship of one of our nieces, and we are raising her. Although her mother isn’t in her life now, she is always in the back of our minds. When our niece had her first boyfriend or wanted to dye her hair, we knew how we felt about the situation but always stopped to think about what her mother would want. We want you to know you will always be with us in the same way.

We cannot wait to expand our family and be able to follow another little one around for sports, teach them how to fish, go on family vacations, and watch their eyes light up on Christmas. Thank you again for your consideration of adding to our family and fulfilling our lives.

About Us

We are definitely a fun-loving couple. If there is an excuse to have a celebration or get our family and friends together, we are on it! We love being outside, whether it is in our backyard, at the lake, or on a mountain. Our hobbies include cooking, crafting, camping, fishing, and exploring new places. We are both lucky enough to work in a field where having fun is what we get to do every day. We both work with the intellectually and developmentally disabled adults in our community. Janice is a director at the company she works for, and Bryttne is self-employed. Making a difference in our clients’ lives and creating the bonds we have with them has made our work much more than just a job. They are a big part of our life and a part of our family.

Our Home & Pets

Our location is a perfect mix of mountains and desert that opens the door to many adventures! Our school district is full of compassionate teachers and is one of the highest rated in the state. Janice has lived here all her life and has many relatives in the area. We recently bought a house just down the street from Janice’s sister and her family. It is an older, six-bedroom home with plenty of room to expand our family and fix up the way we want it. Along with being a larger house, it has a huge backyard, which is great for our two dogs and three cats. They are all very special to us in their own way.

Our Extended Family

Janice’s family lives in the same town as us. Her sister and her family live less than a block away. Her sister has three girls who are always around, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Her mother, father, and brother live on a big farm outside of town that is great for family get-togethers or just visiting on the weekend.

Bryttne’s family is also very close in location. Her parents are the farthest, living about three hours away in Montana. We often go visit them and get to go on many adventures, sometimes even bringing Janice’s family along for the ride. Bryttne’s younger sister just graduated with her master’s degree in art. Right now she lives close, but her art career sometimes takes her farther away. Although we miss her, we are always excited to have a new part of the country to go visit.

Our relationship with our families is so strong that no matter how far apart we are, we always find a way to be together and there for one another. Often holidays are held at our house so that our families can all be together.

What Led Us To Adoption

We realized we were meant to be together because of our love for family and how much we wanted to grow one of our own. For the past eight years, we have been working with specialists on Bryttne’s fertility. Everything we tried was exhausting and unsuccessful. In 2016 Bryttne’s older sister granted her guardianship of our niece, Blake. Bryttne had been helping take care of Blake ever since she was born, and we couldn’t have been more excited to have her come live with us. Going through the process of guardianship for Blake and seeing how natural it was having her come into our home pushed us to start researching the adoption process. The more research we did and the more we talked about it, the more we felt like it was meant to be.
