dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We want to commend you for the bravery and unconditional love you are showing by considering adoption. Our hope is that you feel comfort, peace, and support with whomever you choose to parent your child. As an adoptee himself, David is looking forward to helping your child navigate their thoughts and emotions about adoption in a healthy, supportive, and constructive way.

We see the importance and value of keeping communication and a relationship with you and are truly happy to foster that to the extent you are comfortable with. We want you to know we are a loving, fun, and financially stable couple who have so much love to give your child! Our promise to you is that your child will always be safe with us, will be loved and cared for and will learn the importance of an education, a good work ethic, to appreciate the little things in life, and to celebrate victories both big and small. Above all, they will understand that your choice was made with nothing but love and selflessness.

We appreciate you taking the time to get to know us. We wish you luck and peace with whatever decision you make. We want to convey that if you were to choose us, we would consider it the greatest gift we could ever receive. We hope to hear from you soon!

Best,
David and Caitlyn

About Us

We first met when we were children. Our families have known each other for 30+ years! Eight years ago, we reconnected and have been inseparable ever since. We love to entertain for the holidays and host friends and family for backyard BBQs in the summer. Caitlyn loves interior decorating, gardening, and spending time outdoors with David and our dogs. David enjoys riding his motorcycle, grilling, and doing DIY projects. We love that our location is the perfect halfway point between the mountains and the beach (both of which we frequent for weekend getaways). Caitlyn is a business analyst for a global bank and is fortunate to work from home three days a week. David is a truck driver and has a great schedule where he is home by 2 p.m. every day, with weekends off.

Our Home & Pets

We recently moved into our dream home, in the same neighborhood where we met all those years ago. Many family members on both sides still reside here (Caitlyn’s mom and sister and many of Dave’s uncles and cousins). It’s a wonderful, close-knit community. Our home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as a lovely front porch, screened side room, and back deck. We have a large, fenced-in backyard, where our two dogs love to run around! We have an eight-year-old Bernese mountain dog and a two-year-old border collie/shepherd mix. Both of them love children! Our home is our own little slice of heaven, and we can’t wait for the day we can add a swingset, tree fort, and playroom!

Our Extended Family

We have a large extended family who have shown nothing but love and support for us on this journey. Caitlyn is the oldest of three girls. David is the middle child, with an older brother and two younger sisters. Any child we are lucky to adopt will be the first grandchild on each side, and there is so much excitement surrounding that!

David’s parents are divorced and remarried; however, we all get together for holidays and other celebrations! Caitlyn’s father passed away a few months ago, but her mom lives within walking distance, and they talk every day. Caitlyn’s grandparents host weekly Sunday dinners, a tradition we cherish. David’s dad is one of ten siblings, so there is no shortage of aunts, uncles, and cousins in this family!

One of our favorite traditions with Dave’s dad’s side is the annual Christmas party, where everyone brings a dish and we sing Christmas carols together! David’s mom, sister, and stepdad live about 40 minutes away, and we visit them often. One of our favorite traditions with them is carving pumpkins each Halloween. We feel so blessed to have the support and excitement of our entire family!

What Led Us To Adoption

Adoption has always been in our hearts since adoption was such a huge part of David’s story. After a tough encounter with infertility, we decided our calling must be to begin on our adoption journey sooner rather than later. We strongly feel love makes a family, not DNA, and David’s family is a true testament to that. David was adopted from foster care at six years old, along with his biological brother. Not long after, his sister was adopted through private adoption. Our family is no stranger to adoption, and we have seen the true beauty and impact of it. Because of this, we know adoption is the best choice for us to grow our family.
