dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

From the very beginning of our relationship, we have talked about our dream of expanding our family. A few short years ago, we went through several rounds of IUI, each without success.

If you choose us, we promise to raise your child (or children) to become a kind, caring, generous, thoughtful, and inclusive member of society. We can’t wait to share our love of sports, art, and traveling as well as create our own family traditions with our newest addition. Your act of selfless love, bravery, and strength would give us the opportunity to reach one of our most cherished dreams: to become parents.

If you choose us, you would be helping us fill a void in our lives. We could never thank you enough for this ultimate sacrifice. We admire your strength and courage in considering adoption. We want you to know our families are so eager and excited to have a little one. If you choose us, your child will have a cousin to grow up with as Candace’s sister is expecting a little one also. The adventures we had, life lessons learned, and triumphs and losses while growing up with close family members make us even more excited knowing they will have each other to go through all those experiences with.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and considering us as parents for your child.

Your act of selfless love, bravery, and strength would give us the opportunity to reach one of our most cherished dreams: to become parents.

About Us

Aly works for a public school system as an intervention specialist and Board Certified behavior analyst working with children with moderate to intensive disabilities in grades K–5. Candace is a senior security architect for a telecommunications company. Aly focuses on the details, schedules, and planning, while Candace makes sure everything goes smoothly. We enjoy watching sports together, traveling all over the world, and playing with our dogs. Aly’s greatest interest and life goal is being a lifelong learner as she continues to further her learning in the field of special education and applied behavior analysis to greater aid in the growth and education of all children, including our own. Candace’s greatest interest and life goal is to coach others in various capacities, whether through work or through being a mother, to reach their greatest potential and become respectful and contributing members of society.

Our Home & Pets

We currently live in a suburb in central Ohio. We love our little town and have lived here for the past six years. Within a few minutes of our house, we have a park and splash pad, plenty of places to eat and visit in our downtown district, and a historical museum to visit. We recently moved into a development with many other families who have children of their own, ranging from newborn to teenager. We have a big, fenced-in backyard that we love to spend our nights in and are currently in the process of building a patio. We have three dogs: Skyler (12 years old), Zeke (6 years old), and Frankie (10 months old).

Our Extended Family

Aly’s mother had her at the age of 17 and was married to her biological father. Years later, they divorced, and her mom remarried her stepfather. When her mom and stepfather had Aly’s younger brother, her stepfather adopted her. Her mom and adoptive father live in Florida, and Aly’s brother still lives in their hometown about 30 minutes from us. Aly has two cousins, an aunt, and an uncle on her dad’s side and seven cousins, three aunts, and three uncles on her mom’s side. Each year, her dad’s family goes on a family vacation to a different part of the United States. This past summer, the family traveled to Colorado and spent a week in a cabin in the Rocky Mountains.

Candace’s parents are still married and live and work in Ohio. Her younger sister lives in Ohio with her boyfriend, and they are expecting a little one of their own in December 2023. She has three cousins, an aunt, and an uncle on her mom’s side and two cousins, two aunts, and an uncle on her dad’s. Each summer, her family enjoys many Cleveland Guardians baseball games.

What Led Us To Adoption

We knew adopting was always a part of our future. We talked about kids at the very beginning of our relationship and always knew we would adopt. We tried to start a family first with IUI treatments, but after four failed attempts and lots of conversations, we decided our path was to be parents through adoption. We have many friends and family members who are adopted and have seen the amazing impact it has had on them and their families. As we continue our traveling adventures, we cannot wait to share the world with a little one of our own!
