dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Family is not always blood. It is the people in your life who want you in theirs, the ones who accept you for who you are, and the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what. This is what we believe makes up a family and what excites us about pursuing adoption. Our family is made up of one of the strongest and loving moms in the world, a life-of-the-party dad, and a three-year-old tornado.

We are excited to share our story with you and truly feel honored to be considered as potential adoptive parents. We are an active family that has had an interesting start. Between fighting and beating cancer to living apart as we completed our academic endeavors, we have a greater appreciation for the little things in life and the importance of making each day count. We believe families do not have to match each other. You do not have to look like someone else to love them. We hope you will find our story of interest and look forward to learning more about you.

About Us

We have been best friends for seven years and married for five. We have one biological son, Kai, who is three. Jesse works as a lab director, and Chantè works in business administration for a university hospital. Jesse strives to squeeze the most out of life. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing, mountain biking, skiing, and hiking. Chantè is a caring and motivated mom who loves the arts and enjoys crafting, dancing, fashion, music, and equestrian riding. Kai is a tenacious toddler with a comedic demeanor and big personality. We love to enrich our lives with new cultures by traveling and exploring new areas. We also love spending time at our cabin and enjoying the outdoors as a family. On a normal week, you can usually find us out in the yard or working on a remodeling project for the house. We find joy in the simple things.

Our Home

With the sycamore tree-lined streets, quaint playgrounds within a block, and local stores around the corner, we fell in love with our home in Northern Utah. The energy is palpable throughout the very active community filled with lots of young kids. We are within walking distance of the zoo and a short bike ride to the city park. All the university amenities, museums, and parks are nearby as well. The school system is among the best rated in the state. We love our home and take a lot of pride in restoring its history and beauty. We think this will be a beautiful spot to cherish many memories in raising a family.

Our Extended Family

We both have lots of family here in Utah. Jesse’s mom (Mama C), who is a big part of our and Kai’s life, lives within 25 minutes. His aunt and family live just down the street from us, and it’s awesome to have them that close. Chantè’s mom and sister, along with her two kids, live nearby too. Ironically enough, both our dads live in Phoenix, AZ (not sure how that happened!). We usually make a trip out there once a year to visit them and enjoy some sun!

In addition to family, we have lots of friends nearby with kids whom we often get together with. Family and community are big for us. We like to make intentional efforts to be present in each other’s lives.

What Led Us To Adoption

We arrived at adoption after a long battle with infertility. Although we do have one child, Chantè is unable to conceive any more. We want to provide Kai and another child with the opportunity to grow up with a sibling. We both feel like there is so much to be said about family, and this bond is absolutely something we want to foster. It would be a blessing to care for another child and complete our dream of having two children.
