dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

As I sit to write you this letter, my heart is pounding with pure excitement as well as mixed emotions, mostly because I know exactly how much lives can change through adoption. I understand that this is a very difficult time for you, likely the most challenging decision of your entire life. I have thought about the wide range of emotions you are likely going through as you contemplate the best option not only for you but for your baby too.

I have wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember. I know my journey to become one is through the beauty of adoption, and I’m so excited to be here! If you choose me, I will provide a wonderful home and future for your child. I am so looking forward to sharing my love and my life with your child.

If you decide to make an adoption plan, I want to assure you I will respect you and whatever level of openness and contact you want to have with your child. I promise to cherish and love your child with all my heart and soul and to provide a safe, happy home and a life with every opportunity that I can possibly make available.

I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read about me.

About Me

I am a loving, caring, thoughtful, determined, and positive person residing in a small town. I am a homecare registered nurse. The flexibility of the home care position gives me the ability to arrange my own schedule in the three local communities in which I work. I truly enjoy the challenge and comradery of connecting with the patients on a personal level as a nurse in the comforts of the patients’ homes. My family is very important to me, and I have a close group of friends that I consider to be my sisters. I feel very fortunate to be able to spend time throughout the week with my family and friends.

My Home

I live in a small town in Massachusetts near the ocean, and my immediate family is within a five-minute drive. I have always dreamed of raising a family here. My dear friend and her three children live in town too, and they all will be a crucial part of my future child’s life as well. I frequently spend time with her kids hunting sea glass and teaching them how to fish. Fishing is one of the things I can’t wait to share with my future child once they are old enough. Growing up in such a vibrant community has led me to want to raise my future child here. I would be honored to bring up a child in this community.

My Extended Family

My mom, stepdad, and brother live in the same town as I do. I feel fortunate to be able to stop by my childhood home whenever I want, whether for afternoon coffee or Sunday dinner. My extended family is very excited about my adoption plans. My dad’s parents adopted a son and a daughter from an orphanage when the children were young, prior to my dad being born. My aunt is beyond thrilled that I have started my adoption journey.

My two close friends are considered extended family, and they both cannot wait for me to be a mom. One of my closest friends lives in the same town, and she has three children, one of which I am the proud godmother to! I have another close friend who lives out of state who has a daughter who calls me auntie as well, and we try to spend as much time with each other as possible. I spend holidays with my family and then head over to my friend’s house in town for dessert and to play games with the children. Whether it’s Friday movie and pizza night, going to the beach, or sitting by the fire pit making s’mores, we are sure to have a fun time!

What Led Me To Adoption

I have always wanted to have children, and I thought that by now I would have a family of my own. But unfortunately, I do not. While I honestly treasure my friends’ children calling me “Auntie,” I have always desired for someone to call me “Mom.” While I’m unable to biologically have children, that hasn’t stopped my dream of becoming a mommy. I’ve thought of adoption for years and know now it is the time to make the dream a reality.
