dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Parent,

First and foremost, thank you. Thank you for your courage, your love, and the thought you are putting into this decision. We can only imagine the emotions you're experiencing, and we're grateful for the chance to share who we are and the loving, supportive home we hope to offer a child.

We're Christine and Shayne. Over the years, we've built a life rooted in love, trust, and a strong sense of family. Our home is filled with warmth, laughter, and stability. We enjoy the little things: Sunday morning pancakes, movie nights in the backyard, and adventures that turn into memories. Adoption has always been part of how we imagined growing our family, and we're ready to provide a child with unconditional love, support, and a safe space to grow into whoever they're meant to be.

If we're fortunate enough to be part of your child's story, they will always know their life began with your strength and selflessness. We promise to honor that by raising them with compassion, curiosity, and the deep knowing that they are loved beyond measure.

With love and gratitude,
Christine & Shayne

Our Love Story

We met online back when online dating wasn't exactly the norm. It was the early days of eHarmony and Match.com. Shayne "rated" Christine's profile first, but Christine made the first move with a message. From there, we started writing every day, which quickly turned into texts/calls at all hours. We lived on opposite sides of the country, but the connection was instant.

We met in person a month later, pretty sure this was something special, and we were right. Everything clicked. Within a year, Christine moved to California, and a year after that, we moved in together into a tiny apartment stuck in the 1980s. Since then, we've built a life together and now live in a home with finishings from this decade. We met during a figuring-it-out phase but helped each other grow, laugh, and find footing. That foundation shaped a relationship built on trust, humor, and a love of travel and adventures. After 12 years together and four married, we're still best friends, ready to share that love with a child.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood with a mix of retired couples and families with school-age children. It's the kind of place where kids play outside, walk to school, and neighbors look out for each other. Our home is warm and cozy, filled with natural light and thoughtfully renovated with raising a family in mind. We're in one of the top-rated school districts in California. We also share our space with two dogs we've had for nine years and a green-cheek conure parrot who's never met a conversation he didn't want to join. They've grown up alongside our niece and nephew, snuggling during movies and running around the backyard, and we're excited for them to welcome a little one of our own.

Our Family & Friends

We're both really close to our families. Christine grew up in a big, lively extended family; her mom is one of nine siblings, and her dad is one of eight, so holidays often meant lots of folding chairs, way too much food, and people everywhere. She has two younger brothers, and even though they don't live nearby, they stay in close touch. Shayne's family is a bit smaller, but just as tight-knit. Her mom is one of three, and her dad is one of two, and through remarriages, she gained several step-siblings over the years. Her older sister has two kids, ages eight and six, and we see them every week for dinners, playtime, or just hanging out together.

We're also surrounded by a diverse and supportive group of friends, many of whom have young children of their own, ranging from newborns to elementary school age. Whether it's babysitting, board games, or just a shared meal, we're surrounded by a community that's fun, loving, and ready to cheer on our future child every step of the way.

What We Love About Each Other

Shayne: Christine has a very big heart. She's caring, thoughtful, and makes everyone feel seen. She keeps me laughing, whether it's a cackle or quiet giggle, and brings joy to our home. She's also creative and handy: she'll bake a cake like it came from a bakery or build a table from scratch. Being with her taught me what it means to be loved and to love in return.

Christine: Shayne is incredibly selfless and has a calming presence. She's compassionate, humble, and deeply empathetic while still maintaining a silly side. Shayne will burst into dance, rap a '90s song, or howl with dogs. She loves me unconditionally and taught me how to love myself. I am beyond grateful to have her by my side.
