Family Type: Gay Couple
State we live in: Texas

dear expectant mother

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read through our profile, but most importantly, thank you for considering the incredibly difficult, and selfless, decision of adoption. We are so appreciative of people like you who choose to give this gift of family to those who struggle to begin one. So again, from the bottom of both our hearts, thank you!

If you choose us, your child will not only be our first, but (s)he will be the first grandchild on both sides of our family, meaning there will be quite a celebration! Your child will know love endlessly from his or her dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, great grandparents, cousins, and so many more. Your child will grow up fluent in English and Arabic, just like his or her dads. Your child will experience two cultures, Christian and Islamic. Your child will also experience a plethora of other world cultures and languages through travel as a citizen of the world! Your child will be the best-dressed kid in school. (Cody talks endlessly about all the cute baby clothes he’s going to buy.) Your child will be well educated with top-tier, brand new schools in the city we live in. But most importantly, your child will be the continuation of our story and will finally help us begin to live the life of fatherhood that we’ve always wanted. We cannot wait to officially call ourselves a “family” with our first bundle of joy.

About Us

Hello! We are Yusuf and Cody, although we jokingly refer to ourselves as a mash-up of our names: “Yusody.” We both work from home for the same amazing multifamily housing company--Cody in the Smart Home Technology side of things and Yusuf in the Corporate HR side. We definitely have that “cheesy love story” of growing up in the same town and attending the same schools, but it wasn’t until 2014, in college, that we truly felt comfortable enough to share our story with the world. We moved in together in 2019, and in between and ever since, we’ve traveled the world, adding more and more chapters and pages to our story. Now we’re ready for the next chapter to unfold as we bring a prince or a princess (or both!) into our loving home and our future adventures!

Our Home & Pets

Our home is a beautiful four-bedroom, two-bathroom house located in a quiet neighborhood that is walkable to other nearby neighborhoods, an elementary school, a brand new intermediate and middle school, and soon-to-be new high school! We have four cats (mostly from Cody’s time spent doing animal rescue): Sylvester (8), Sasha (7), Magnolia (3), and Morgana (2). One of our favorite things to do is to bike into the city proper and spend time walking (and soon playing!) in parks or trying out a new restaurant we’ve heard of. We live a very active lifestyle, and we can’t wait to bring a little one along with us!

Our Extended Family

We come from a multicultural, and incredibly loving background, celebrating both the Christian holidays most people are used to celebrating in our country and the Islamic holidays such as Ramadan and Eid.

Cody’s family is culturally Christian and much smaller. He’s the only child of his parents, who just recently built a new home close by! His mom has already been eagerly buying baby furniture “for Grandma’s house,” while his dad talks about all the awful dad jokes he’s going to tell. (That means 3x the awful dad jokes!)

Yusuf’s family lives one town over and is culturally Muslim. Their family is significantly larger, and he is the oldest out of four siblings. One sister (the oldest of the younger siblings) has already jokingly talked about moving in with us and/or stealing her niece/nephew, his other sister talks about everything she wants to teach the baby, and his brother says he’s going to be the coolest kid in school since he’ll be a khalo (uncle in Arabic). Yusuf’s mom sends the both of us countless TikToks of babies, telling us to “hurry up!”

We can’t wait to introduce the first grandchild to both of our families!

What Led Us To Adoption

As our story began, the first pages were filled with an understanding of one another; we didn’t have wonderful childhoods as young, closeted gay men. We were shocked at how incredibly similar our backgrounds were! As we allowed our love to bloom through the pages that followed, we learned we both had the same driving force related to becoming fathers: We want to give our children the type of childhood we weren’t able to have--one filled with unconditional love and acceptance. Our hearts fill with love and joy at the thought of becoming fathers through adoption.
