Family Type: Gay
State we live in: Texas

dear expectant mother

First and foremost, thank you. Thank you for taking the time to read through our profile, thank you for your consideration in choosing us as parents for your child, and, most importantly, thank you for considering the incredibly difficult and selfless decision of adoption.

If you choose us, your child will grow up speaking two languages, English and Arabic, just like his or her dads. Your child will experience two cultures, Christian and Islamic. Your child will also experience a plethora of other world cultures and languages through travel as a citizen of the world. Your child will be the best-dressed kid in school. (Cody talks endlessly about all the cute baby clothes he’s going to buy.) Your child will know love endlessly from his or her dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and so many more. Your child will be well educated with a teacher as a parent. Most importantly, your child will be the continuation of our story and will finally help us begin to call ourselves a “family” with our first bundle of joy.

We are so thankful for people like you who choose to give this gift of family to those who struggle to begin one. So again, from the bottom of both our hearts, thank you!

Our hearts fill with love and joy at the thought of becoming fathers through adoption.

About Us

We are Yusuf and Cody, although we jokingly refer to ourselves as a mash-up of our names: “Yusody.” Cody is a high school English teacher who works with kids from all backgrounds—from limited English to gifted and talented—while Yusuf is currently a leasing consultant with a major apartment complex. We definitely have that “cheesy love story” of growing up in the same town and attending the same schools, but it wasn’t until college that we truly felt comfortable enough to share our story with the world. Our story began in 2014, when we met in college. We moved in together in 2019, and ever since, we’ve traveled the world, adding more and more pages to our story. Now we’re ready for the next one to unfold as we bring a prince or a princess (or both!) into our loving home and our future chapters.

Our Home & Pets

Our home is a beautiful four-bedroom, two-bathroom house located in a quiet neighborhood that is walkable to other nearby neighborhoods, an elementary school, and soon-to-be new intermediate, middle, and high schools! We have four cats (mostly from Cody’s time spent doing animal rescue): Sylvester (7), Sasha (6), Magnolia (2), and Morgana (1). One of our favorite things to do is to bike into the city proper and spend time walking (and soon playing!) in parks or trying out a new restaurant we’ve heard of. We live a very active lifestyle, and we can’t wait to bring a little one along with us!

Our Extended Family

We come from a multicultural and incredibly loving background, celebrating both the Christian holidays most people are used to celebrating in our country and the Islamic holidays such as Ramadan and Eid.

Cody’s family is non-practicing Christian and much smaller. He’s the only child of his parents, who luckily live in the same city, close by. His mom has already been eagerly buying baby furniture “for Grandma’s house,” while his dad talks about all the awful dad jokes he’s going to tell. (That means three times the awful dad jokes!)

Yusuf’s family lives one town over and is non-practicing Muslim. Their family is significantly larger, and he is the oldest out of four siblings. One sister (the oldest of the younger siblings) has already jokingly talked about moving in with us, his other sister talks about everything she wants to teach the baby, and his brother says he’s going to be the coolest kid in school since he’ll be a khalo (uncle in Arabic). Yusuf’s mom is a stay-at-home mom who will love and educate the child in both English and Arabic while Daddy and Baba are at work.

What Led Us To Adoption

As our story began, the first pages were filled with an understanding of one another; we didn’t have wonderful childhoods as young, closeted gay men. We were shocked at how incredibly similar our backgrounds were! As we allowed our love to bloom through the chapters that followed, we learned we both had the same driving force related to becoming fathers: We want to give our children the type of childhood we weren’t able to have. Our hearts fill with love and joy at the thought of becoming fathers through adoption.
