dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We cannot imagine the difficult and courageous decision you are facing, and we deeply admire your strength and love for your baby. We are truly honored to be considered as adoptive parents.
We are Coleman and Neema, a married couple living a joyful and stable life together. As a gay couple, we knew adoption was the right path for us. Rather than pursuing IVF, we feel a strong commitment to building our family through adoption.

We are at a wonderful place in our lives—secure in our careers, settled in our home, and surrounded by family and friends who are eager to embrace a child. Our multicultural background (Neema is Persian and Coleman is Caucasian) enriches our lives with traditions, diversity, and food from around the world. Education, travel, and community are central to our lives, and we look forward to giving a child every opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive.

Adoption has touched Neema’s extended family, showing us how beautiful it can be when approached with respect and openness. We bring that same mindset to this journey, and we look forward to building a connection with you grounded in trust.

We dream of bedtime stories, cooking meals together, celebrating holidays, and traveling as a family. Above all, your child will grow up in a safe, joyful home filled with love.

With gratitude,
Coleman & Neema

Our Lifestyle

Our weekdays are comfortable and full of routines that ground us. Neema works from home as a Director of Operations, and Coleman is a Family Nurse Practitioner nearby. We prioritize fitness, whether at the gym, in our home gym, or walking our dog, Lucy. Neema loves cooking new recipes, and dinners are often the highlight of our evenings.

Weekends are for balance. We tidy our home, tend to Coleman’s garden, and then explore Sacramento’s foodie scene. We love trying new brunch spots and cuisines, and Coleman often bakes treats to enjoy with coffee. Social time with friends and family is also a weekend staple, whether hosting at home or hiking and camping nearby.

Travel is one of our biggest passions. We take at least one international trip each year and enjoy national parks and family reunions. We look forward to including our child in these adventures, as well as simple joys like farmers markets, holiday traditions, and family walks.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in a cozy one-story ranch-style home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious kitchen, and a family room. Our backyard has a pool and garden where we look forward to teaching our child to swim and grow vegetables together. We chose our neighborhood for its wide streets, safe and friendly feel, and nearby parks. We are close to schools, trails, and Sacramento’s vibrant food and cultural scene.

Our Family & Friends

We are fortunate to have a loving, supportive circle of family and friends who cannot wait to welcome a child.

Neema’s parents, Lida and Saeed, live in Southern Utah, and he has an older brother, Nadeem. Coleman’s parents, Julie and Dan, live just outside Sacramento, along with several of his siblings and their families. In total, we have twelve nieces and nephews ranging from toddlers to teens, and we cherish time with them. Family reunions every few years are a highlight, with the next one planned for Oregon in 2026.

Neema’s Persian extended family is large and very close-knit. His four first cousins are like siblings, and relatives are spread across the West Coast, Australia, the UK, and Sweden. Both of us are also close with our grandmothers, who are in their 80s. Holidays like Christmas, Easter, and Persian New Year are full of laughter, food, and tradition.

We also have chosen family. Our dear friends Bopanna and Christine, whose daughter we are godparents to, share holidays and adventures with us. Our friends and family are ready to offer support, love, and guidance as we become parents.

What We Love About Each Other

We balance each other in ways that make our relationship strong. Neema is the extroverted, social butterfly, while Coleman brings a calm, grounding presence. Neema admires Coleman’s ability to stay composed even in stressful times and the way he has always supported him emotionally through life’s challenges. Coleman’s loyalty to his family, his caring nature, and his talent for baking are qualities Neema deeply treasures.

Coleman loves Neema’s infectious laugh and sense of humor, which brighten every room. He admires Neema’s intellect — earning a PhD in neuroscience — and his passion for cooking, which brings people together. What stands out most is Neema’s loyalty and care for those closest to him. Together, we find balance, love, and joy.
