dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you so much for taking the time to view our profile and learn about us. We have waited to become parents for a very long time and are excited to have started this first step. You probably didn’t imagine your journey to motherhood like this, and we appreciate your willingness to take this most difficult path as your decision will allow us to finally become the parents we yearn to be. Pregnancy is such an emotional time, and we cannot imagine that being compounded by making such a difficult decision. We are here to support you so that you feel comfortable in knowing we are the right family for your baby, should you choose us.

Your baby will always feel loved, supported, and safe. We will raise him or her to be a good, kind person who is considerate and tolerant of others. They will be free to make a mess and learn early on that laughter is the best medicine. In addition to all of the love they receive from us and our family, he or she will always be covered in dog kisses and dog hair (thank God for lint brushes)!

Since we have been married, Colleen has bought a picture book from everywhere we have traveled and has accumulated quite the library. We are excited to read our baby stories about the three bears in Alaska, the moose in Maine, and the turtle from Tortola.

Thank you so much for taking the time to view our profile and learn about us. We have waited to become parents for a very long time and are excited to have started this first step.

About Us

We were living in Philadelphia after completing graduate school and medical school and were set up on a blind date by Colleen’s best friend. We went to dinner and drank hot chocolate as we walked on the chilly boardwalk. The rest, as they say, is history. We have been married since May 2007. Colleen works as a faculty physician teaching doctors that recently graduated from medical school. Jeff is the vice president of a company that has a large nationwide contract supporting the Department of Homeland Security. Outside of work, you can find us laughing at comedy shows and singing out of tune to our favorite bands at concerts. Jeff loves road and mountain biking, and Colleen loves photography. We both love hiking in the mountains and traveling to anywhere our passports take us.

Our Home & Pets

Located on a cul-de-sac with a playroom directly across from the kitchen, a nursery right next to the master bedroom, and a fenced-in yard with a view of the Rocky Mountains, we have the perfect home to raise a child. Most of the developments in our town are connected by walking paths, which means endless playgrounds to explore. It’s our three silly dogs, Bodhi, Darby, and Wylie, that make our house a home. They each have a unique personality that fills our home with life, laughter, and noise. At night, when we lay in our bed watching TV, all the dogs climb in to snuggle. We call it our dogpile. Our child will have no shortage of dog kisses and snuggles.

Our Extended Family

Jeff was born and raised in Massachusetts, and Colleen is from New Jersey. Colleen is one of three siblings, and Jeff is an only child. While much of our family is still back east, Colleen’s brother moved to Colorado three years ago. He recently got his own apartment just a few miles away. After years of us trying to convince them to leave the cold winters in the Northeast, Jeff’s parents moved to Colorado in October 2020 to be closer to our family. Colleen’s mom and her dad and his wife still live in New Jersey but love to visit as often as possible.

Colleen has decorations for every holiday, all in their own carefully organized storage totes. Not a holiday goes by without some sort of corresponding decorations. We have become much more active since moving to Colorado. Every May we participate in a 10K race called the Bolder Boulder. Our favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, and every year we host “refugee Thanksgiving.” This means that any friend, neighbor, or coworker who needs a place to celebrate joins us for dinner. We have never had the same exact group twice, but every year a good time is had by all.

What Led Us To Adoption

Adoption has been in our hearts, and it’s something we have talked about since we got married. We have experienced infertility but, after several years, got pregnant with our son, Jack West. Sadly, Jack died ten days before his due date because of an unexpected problem with his placenta. As we have worked to heal from his loss and searched our hearts for what comes next, adoption is still there.
