About Us

We live in the suburbs in Georgia. While Rob is a native of Georgia, Cortney is originally from Maryland. We are an ambitious and fun-loving couple. Rob works as an attorney at his own law firm; Cortney is a speech language pathologist and works for a company that makes communication devices for people who do not speak. We met on a dating app and instantly connected over a mutual love of a short-lived TV show, Deadwood. Our courtship was fast, and we quickly realized we had a similar passion for life! We enjoy going to concerts and museums, traveling, going to unique events and experiences, and taking this life in. On any given week, you can find us at the movie theater seeing a newly released movie on a Thursday, at the live theater on Friday, and maybe at a concert over the weekend.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a safe, thriving, suburban community northeast of Atlanta with great schools. In our little neighborhood, there are many children and a small park. We live close to several county parks and the local elementary school. We have five dogs. The oldest are our Golden Retrievers, Toby and Charley. The other dogs are a German Shorthaired Pointer named Frank, a Border Collie named Max, and a Great Dane puppy named Lykke (pronounced Like-uh). We also have two bunnies named Attila the Bun and Bunhilda (we call her Hildie).

Our Extended Family

Cortney’s family lives in Maryland and includes her mom, dad, brother and sister-in-law, and sister, along with several cousins and two nieces. We typically visit them three times a year (once in the summer, at Thanksgiving, and at Christmas). We love making an overnight breakfast casserole to eat after opening gifts on Christmas morning and baking Christmas cookies. We always have a traditional crab feast during the summer. We love listening to music and playing board games after dinner.

Rob’s extended lives in the Atlanta area, consisting of his stepfather and a sister and her partner and their three children (one nephew and two nieces). Rob also has several cousins, aunts, and uncles who live in the Atlanta area. We enjoy taking our nieces and nephew to the movies, haunted houses, and other social events around Atlanta. We enjoy getting together throughout the year but especially on holidays such as Fourth of July for barbeque and fireworks.

What Led Us To Adoption

We knew building a family would be a journey due to a medical condition Cortney experienced several years ago. We tried IVF and were unsuccessful after several attempts. Despite this challenge, we still have a lot of love to give and a desire to build a loving, caring, and supportive home for a child. We believe families are built by love, not just biology. We look forward to nurturing a child’s talents, sharing new and unique experiences in this world, and loving a child. When we met with the team at LifeLong Adoptions, we felt this was where we were meant to be to build our family.
