dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and getting to know us. We understand considering adoption for your baby is very difficult, and we recognize the courage and love it takes to consider this option. We wish you a full heart and a peaceful mind while you go through this process.

We’ve always known we wanted to raise a family and are grateful adoption will finally give us that opportunity. We feel an open adoption full of trust and respect for the birth family will be in our child’s best interest. If you wish this too, we would love to keep in contact with you through letters, photos, and occasional visits at any level you’re comfortable with.

Courtney can’t wait to teach a child to speak Spanish, foster their creativity, and encourage a love of reading. Alex is looking forward to sharing his love of tinkering and sparking a love of exploration and travel. Together, we cannot wait to teach a little one the wonders of helping plants grow and eating home-grown produce and eggs. We can’t wait to share our lives with a child and introduce them to the many family members who anxiously await their arrival. We promise them a home filled with love, stability, and adventure.

We look forward to hopefully meeting you and going on this journey together.

With love,
Courtney and Alex

We wish you a full heart and a peaceful mind while you go through this process.

About Us

Courtney is an elementary teacher at a Spanish bilingual immersion school, and Alex works for a major tech company and runs his own small business on the side. After an Internet dating site matched us at 96%, we knew we had to meet. Our mutual love for animals, the outdoors, social justice, and being silly really brought us together. Twelve years later, with five of them happily married, we love to cuddle with our furballs and can’t wait to share that love with our future baby. Though we cultivate our individual hobbies, we also love to spend time together watching TV, playing board games, and exploring hiking trails near and far. Sharing the household chores and supporting each other's dreams, goals, and crazy ideas has always been important to us.

Our Home & Pets

Our house is in a quiet suburban neighborhood in a top-rated school district, with an oak-lined creek trail that’s perfect for walking to the nearby park and school. We live in a two-story, five-bedroom house on a quarter acre with a large garden and chicken coop out back. We are excited to teach our child how to cultivate their own fresh food all while having fun digging in the dirt! We can’t wait to encourage learning through reading and play. We even have space set up for home projects and crafting. Our love of animals brings joy to our home. Between dogs, cats, fish, and chickens, it really is a lively house!

Our Extended Family

Our future baby will be the first grandbaby on both sides of our family, and our parents are almost as excited as we are. One grandma is busy planning a quilt to make for our baby, and a grandpa is already planning fishing trips! Between us, we have four brothers, who are all looking forward to becoming uncles. We are close with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins who are all ready to add one more to love!

We love our family traditions! In nice weather, we spend most Sunday evenings at Alex’s dad’s house for a BBQ and swimming in his pool. On Memorial Day, we gather the clans (Courtney’s entire giant extended family and friends that count as family) for a beachside, windy campout weekend with s’mores and potlucks galore. The kids go swimming in the waves, play baseball, and explore the tidepools. Our favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, when we host the slightly smaller extended family at our house. We love to cook, eat, and play board games for the entire weekend, and the few kids in the family will be so excited to have another cousin to play with.

What Led Us To Adoption

We believe families are made in so many different ways. Growing up, we both had many friends in blended and adoptive families. No matter the combination, we could see the families were full of love and devotion. For genetic reasons, we decided long ago that adoption would be the best way to grow our family. We are so excited to share our hearts by welcoming a baby into our home and lives together.
