dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

First off, let us say thank you for even considering us as the couple to love and cherish your precious baby. We promise you can be as involved or not involved as you want; we respect your choices. This was not an impulsive decision nor a decision made lightly by us. We have spent several years building the perfect foundation to raise a family. We are at a place in our lives to begin this exciting new journey. We both understand what it takes to raise a child, and we are so excited to embrace each stage and chapter!

We are excited about having the opportunity to become dads, and we can’t thank you enough for considering making our dream come true. We guarantee you this baby will be raised out of love and will never go without. They will know the importance of family and that family is the group of people that love and support them. It is not about the color of the skin, their gender, or where they came from; it is about the unconditional love that is given, and we promise there will be tons!

We are excited about sharing the milestones: baby’s first words, first steps, riding a bike, first day of school, and the list goes on. We can’t wait to take pictures at Christmastime, birthdays, and all special occasions. We will cherish those special moments when they fall asleep in our arms while we are rocking them or reading them a bedtime story.

We promise you can be as involved or not involved as you want; we respect your choices.

About Us

Hi! We are Michael and Craig. We met ten years ago, and it has been a joyride ever since. Our first date was at a state park, where we walked on the boardwalk and talked for hours. We also shared our first kiss that night. We became the best of friends, and soon after, we both knew there was more to this relationship. We married on June 3, 2017, in a small chapel surrounded by our family. We can literally say we are married to our best friend. We are both successful professionals in our respective fields. Mike works in sales and is a regional manager. Craig is the clinical director for an intensive wound clinic. We are both driven by our passion to help and heal others. Even though we are career driven, we are more focused on starting our family.

Our Home & Pets

We moved into our ideal home three years ago. It’s a one-story new build in a quiet subdivision in the suburbs. The neighborhood has several young families, so it will be fun to see the neighborhood kids grow up together. We are close to several metro-parks. It is nice to be out of town and closer to nature. We are excited to take our little one to the parks and watch them play. Currently we are the proud parents of four fur babies. We have three cats: a gray and brown tabby named Matt (Moo), a black tuxedo cat named Sissy, and a white cat named Bailey (Peanut). Our recent addition is a basset hound, Bryan (Turd Burd). Each has their own personality, and we love each of them unconditionally.

Our Extended Family

Spending time with our families is very important to us. We spend every Saturday having breakfast with Mike’s mom and aunt. For the holidays, it has become a tradition that we celebrate Christmas with both of our families being there. We are very excited to start new traditions with our son or daughter. The first thing that comes to mind is family pictures with our little one for every holiday.

Mike’s mom and aunt and Craig’s mom are all very excited about us having a baby. They are already talking about who is going to babysit. We have a full family support system, and they are so happy and excited about becoming grandparents.

Craig has one older sister, and Mike has three younger brothers and two younger sisters. We also have some very close friends who are like family to us. A new baby is not only going to change our lives but also our family’s lives as well, and we can’t wait!

What Led Us To Adoption

You may be wondering why we chose adoption as the path we wanted to take to grow our family. We both always wanted a family of our own, and being gay men, we cannot create a family the conventional way. We did attempt to do the shared parenting route with a lesbian couple who are friends of ours, but unfortunately we were not successful. We ended up deciding to adopt after talking with one of our neighbors, who was a surrogate for a gay couple in New Zealand. Michael met his biological father when he was 25 and discovered he had siblings and family who were eager to know him. It has been a blessing to get to know each of them. We have so much support from our friends and family to be the best parents possible.
