Darrin & Darryl

Family Type: Gay Couple
State we live in: Virginia

dear expectant mother

We can never express in writing or verbally what a blessing it would be for you to consider allowing us the privilege and honor to raise your child. It is not a responsibility we would take for granted. We have enjoyed many successes in life from both a personal and professional perspective. However, there is no greater joy than to shepherd and help a child navigate this world.

We think about the first steps, first words, first day of school, first dance, first love, first job, and, more importantly, those life lessons and conversations with family and our friend village that will help shape this amazing life into an active, productive, and well-adjusted person. We look forward to baking cookies, taking vacations, playing games, and enjoying dance nights. We can’t wait to pick out the perfect outfits for church and special events and act silly to keep life balanced and things in perspective. The blessing and sacrifice you will make by selecting us will be honored as we are emotionally present, actively engaged with all aspects of life, and diligent in loving, protecting, and preparing this precious soul for the world that is and is to come.

We can never express in writing or verbally what a blessing it would be for you to consider allowing us the privilege and honor to raise your child. It is not a responsibility we would take for granted.

About Us

We are both in healthcare, one as a practice manager and the other a market CEO for a national healthcare company. We have been together for over 27 years and married nearly one year. We were both raised in Christian homes and are Baptist in faith. We love all types of music, concerts, and movies and have traveled all over the world in our 27 years together. We are more action adventure and sci-fi guys. We take turns picking movies to watch and cooking dinner at home. We are best friends and number one supporters of each other, and together we believe we can face and overcome any and everything. We are connected for life, and we would not want it any other way.

Our Home

We live in a suburb outside a major city and in the best school district. Our five-bedroom home is in a development that includes a pool, playground, and walking trail where you will find kids on bikes and other motorized toys on a daily basis. We are in the process of having our dream home built in the same development. This home will have six bedrooms, a movie theater, a playroom, a morning room, and a screened-in porch. Our goal is to have plenty of space for a child to grow and have fun. We will take great pride in engaging our child with educational games, dancing around while playing music, and sitting in the theater watching baby shark and Mickey Mouse.

Our Extended Family

We have several family and extended family traditions. We alternate holidays between our two families, and we would like to go on record saying everyone looks forward to our annual holiday party. We set up games and food for the kids and a theme each year for the adults with tons of food and a deejay.

Family is extremely important to us. We take two family trips a year with Darrin’s family and have an annual family reunion with Darryl’s family. We love long weekend getaways and take several throughout the year with our extended friend village and their kids. We get together often with cousins and their kids during the summer and our brothers and sisters for beach days, BBQs, and summer concerts in the parks.

We discussed the potential of adopting with both family and our friend village. It was like they won the lottery! Everyone was excited and wanted to know what they could do to help and when we were expecting the baby to come. The overwhelming support and love made us both feel loved and provided additional validation we were going to be supported in this process.

What Led Us To Adoption

We volunteer with our church and are active with nonprofits such as the Salvation Army, American Heart, and an organization whose mission is to help men with reentry from prison. It is through this work that we began to have discussions about our desire to have a child we can sow into. We would love the opportunity to share our experiences, rediscover places, and make new memories with a child we can protect, guide, love, and, of course, spoil in a well-mannered way. We have prayed about this decision and asked God to have his perfect way. We are excited about taking this journey and the possibility of having a newborn to celebrate, love, and take care of. We would consider this privilege our ultimate blessing.
