Family Type: Gay Couple
State We live in: Illinois

dear expectant mother

Thank you so much for considering helping us become fathers. We have loved each other from the very start of our relationship and talked about having children someday through the years while creating a strong foundation. We cannot begin to express how much love and support your child would receive from our family and us, should you choose us. We say this because we know considering an adoption plan has to be one of the hardest things in the world. The emotions we will all experience will have their ups and downs because this will be a one-of-a-kind journey.

This gift you are considering giving us will continue to fill our hearts with love and joy forever. We have many people who hold special places in our hearts, but you will undoubtedly hold a large part of our hearts because you helped our family be complete. We hope it is a comfort to you that your child will be growing up in a home full of love, support, fun, education, and memories. You will not have to worry, because we know this gift of a child is not given easily by you and is not accepted by us with any doubts or hesitation.
Thank you again. Thank you for being the strong and courageous person you are. Thank you for being the selfless person you are.
Thank you for considering giving us the chance to have our family.

Thank you so much for considering helping us become fathers. We cannot begin to express how much love and support your child would receive from our family and us, should you choose us.

About Us

Joey works for the railroad, and Dirk works as an occupational/hand therapist for a hand surgeon. We have been together for nine years and married four of those years. We went to grade school together and reconnected through a mutual friend during college. We both enjoy traveling, hiking, camping, playing board and card games with friends, and spending time with our families. Joey is into athletics, while Dirk prefers to read. From early on, we talked about how our family would look someday. While Joey was establishing himself in his job, Dirk was completing his master’s degree. Our focus was on establishing a solid foundation to build our family on, including two great jobs, a beautiful home, and two cats. We are now ready to become parents by adding a child to our lives, whom we will raise with all the love and support in the world.

Our Home & Pets

We own a home in a child-friendly community in Illinois. Our neighborhood is full of children of all ages. We have a three-bedroom home with plenty of room for growth and play. Our home is located directly behind a community play area for the kids that’s always in use. Our school district is ranked 9/10, which means it’s in the top 20% of public schools in Illinois. We have two cats, Archer and Elsa, who are both very friendly and love attention (yup, even when we are sleeping, haha).

Our Extended Family

We both come from large families. Dirk’s mom and dad are divorced, but this has added to the diversity of his family. His mom and her partner were together for ten years, so Dirk has another non-biological mother who now lives in California and two non-biological sisters who live in Oregon. Dirk’s dad is remarried to his stepmom, who has a daughter who is married with three kids. Dirk’s family is very close despite coming from different backgrounds and living in different areas.

We love to spend time with our family, often just playing cards and enjoying each other’s company. Many of Joey’s siblings are married with children already. His family loves to have large get-togethers a couple of times a year, which keeps the family connected. His family loves the holidays, when everyone can gather to spend time together. Our families are very excited for us to add another niece or nephew to the family. Our child will have no shortage of cousins and family members to shower them with love, attention, and plenty of spoiling.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have talked about adopting a child for some time. We have two separate family members who adopted and family friends who adopted two siblings. Through these experiences, we have seen firsthand how adoption can change children's lives and create some of the most loving and supportive families. We will not be able to have biological children, but that does not mean we can't have children to love and support. Through adoption, we are not only giving a child a home full of love but we are also adding to our family.
