Donielle & Jaclyn

Family Type: Lesbian
State we live in: Texas

dear expectant mother

We cannot even begin to imagine what your heart and mind are going through right now. If we could, we would wrap you up in a huge hug and tell you it is going to be okay. If you do honor us with the privilege of raising your child, we promise to love and support them with all we have. That includes letting them know what an important and cherished role you played in our family’s story.

We can’t promise a perfect life for your child because that doesn’t exist, but we can promise to create a home and a life in which your child will be taught that even though life is hard and sometimes gets messy, there is always a way to clean up the mess. No matter how big the mess, we will be there next to them, just as we will be during their biggest successes.

We cannot wait to spend summers swimming and traveling, winters playing in the snow and decorating Christmas cookies, and being the loud parents with the best snacks at extracurricular activities. We love laughing, random Nerf wars, and living room campouts, and we are ready to add another set of giggles and laughter to our home. At the end of this journey, we want to make your child fully part of the DNA of our family while honoring you as the superhero you are to our family and your child.

If we could, we would wrap you up in a huge hug and tell you it is going to be okay. If you do honor us with the privilege of raising your child, we promise to love and support them with all we have.

About Us

Donielle is in her thirteenth year of teaching as a special education teacher in a behavior intervention classroom. She helps students with severe emotional and mental disorders, as well as autism, learn the coping skills they need to be successful with their peers in both academic and social settings. Jaclyn has been a regional sales manager for a biomedical equipment company for the last six years. In 2012 we were introduced to each other by Jaclyn’s sister, who was in a small group with Donielle at church. After about six months of friendship, we started dating, and then we decided to tie the knot in 2014. We are both similar and different at the same time. Our core values match perfectly, and we have a shared vision of what our family’s future looks like. Our personalities, while different, balance and complement each other.

Our Home & Pets

We recently transitioned from the downtown area to a suburb. This area has amazing schools, is close to both our places of work, has a nice backyard area for our two pups (Cash and Ragamuffin), and is close to our bonus family. Cindy, the bonus grandma, is super excited to be a strong figure in our child’s life. We strive to make our home as peaceful, loving, and joyful as possible. Jaclyn fills the home with music, while Donielle is constantly cooking, filling the home with amazing smells and meals. Our four-bedroom house is in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood filled with both young and older families.

Our Extended Family

Donielle comes from a large Irish family and has several nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as countless aunts and uncles. They are spread out across the country, with her immediate family living in Oklahoma. Both of Jaclyn’s grandparents were only children, so her immediate family is much smaller, with one aunt, one sister, and one cousin, all of whom live within an hour of us. We have been blessed with a bonus family, Donielle’s best friend Jessie and her family.

We spend every Christmas in Oklahoma with Donielle’s family. Easters are spent with close family friends, and four years ago, we started our very first tradition as our family! We spend Thanksgiving in Colorado, Donielle makes Thanksgiving dinner, and we go hiking, build fires, play in the snow, and talk about all the things we can’t wait to share with our children on this trip one day.

Our family and friends mean the world to us and are just as excited to welcome our child into our family as we are!

What Led Us To Adoption

From the moment we knew we wanted to get married, we knew we wanted a family. From the very early stages of planning our future and lives together, we started making space and plans for our children. Jaclyn’s father was adopted, and Donielle’s cousin had been adopted. Seeing the impact of that on our families made an impression on our hearts, so when the time came to start a family, we knew that meant it was also time to start our adoption journey.
