Dorothy & Dan

Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State We live in: Illinois

dear expectant mother

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We can't begin to understand the difficult situation you are in and the huge decision you are about to make. We are honored to have the opportunity to be adoptive parents, and we are not taking it for granted.

If you choose us, your child will be guaranteed home-cooked meals and freshly baked goods by Dorothy. Not to mention, Dan will also bring home food from his restaurant, especially both our favorite—deep dish pizza. Not only will your child be exposed to our love of Chicago sports teams, but they will have musical opportunities as well. Dorothy has a classical music background, so she's ready, willing, and able to teach them any and all instruments. We have a huge support system with all our family and friends. There would be unlimited love and support for your child.

God is very important in our lives, and we go to church every Sunday. We cherish life and would be honored to have the opportunity to support you in this journey. We understand it is a huge sacrifice to place your child in someone else's hands and also requires a lot of trust. We believe all things work together for good.

About Us

We are Dan and Dorothy from Illinois. We met online in August 2019, so most of the first year of our relationship was navigated through the madness of Covid. However, we believe the chaos around that time made us stronger as a couple. We were engaged and married by October 2021. We are connected by our love of working out and enjoy going on walks and hikes together. We're also big Chicago sports fans and have gone to several games to see our teams. Dan's a big White Sox fan, while Dorothy's a Cubs fan, so we are a house divided! We love to travel and explore new places and different restaurants. Dan's in the hospitality industry, but we both love entertaining friends and family at our home. Neither of us takes life too seriously; we love being silly and are big kids at heart.

Our Home & Neighborhood

A couple of years ago, we moved into our brand new house in a smaller town in Northern Illinois. We love the slower, quieter pace compared to city life. There's still so much to do, and we enjoy being closer to places where we can sit outside near water. Our neighborhood has lots of younger families and a small park nearby. One of our favorite parts is hearing our neighborhood Elvis impersonator practicing a few doors down. We have three very cuddly cats—Mackenzie, Leia, and Calvin—who are constantly entertaining us one way or another. The youngest, Calvin, is, like many little brothers, always picking on his sisters.

Our Family & Friends

Each of us has one older brother, and we're very close with them. Between both of us, we have three nieces and a nephew whom we have gotten to watch grow up and be part of their lives. Dorothy has several cousins with whom she still spends time. They were all close, like siblings, growing up. We're both lucky to live fairly close to our immediate family—all within an hour of each other. We get together with family and friends as often as we can. Since Dorothy's brother and sister-in-law only live 10 minutes away, we tend to spend a lot of time with them. We enjoy playing board games, going to bingo, and have a long-standing game of Euchre, which brings out all of our competitive natures. Both of Dorothy's parents grew up in Poland, so there are still many traditions that we uphold, especially on Christmas Eve. Her mom makes the best pierogi ever! Once a year, for Christmas, Dan dabbles in baking, making some of his mom's old cookie recipes.

What Led Us To Adoption

We got married a little later in life and both agreed when we first started dating that if we couldn't have biological children, we wanted to adopt. We both have always wanted to be parents, but due to some fertility issues, we recently decided adoption was the best path forward. We want to help a little one grow up and experience life through a child's eyes. Dan's uncle adopted three boys, so he has seen firsthand the joy it brought to that part of his family. Dan's 23 years in hospitality have given him opportunities to work with numerous families and kids, helping them smile and create lasting memories. More recently, he's been making pizzas with many children, which fills his heart with joy.
