Elise & Steve

Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State we live in: California

dear expectant mother

When we became parents, we happily traded our independence, free time, and energy to be able to raise our daughter, Camila, how we wanted to be raised when we were growing up. For us, it was an easy choice that can be plenty difficult at times, but we want “the best” for her, so we work at it daily. Through parenting, we have learned that being an adult and making decisions on behalf of a child can be hard, and sometimes we have no idea if our choice for them is “right.”

As a mama, we understand that in considering adoption, you are making difficult decisions for not only your baby but for yourself and your future. We can only be entirely grateful to and supportive of a person in your position. We are thankful for the opportunities you wish to provide your baby, for the difficult choices you are willing to make, and for the sacrifices you have already made to get where you are today. We are willing to walk with you, share some of our experiences as parents and humans of this world, and listen to the hopes and dreams you have for not only your baby but for yourself too. We want the best for the both of you and will gladly work with you to achieve it.

About Us

We are Steve and Elise. We met in college and have been together ever since! We’ve had tons of fun exploring the city and eating at restaurants with friends. We enjoy traveling and making memories in other countries, such as Cuba, Brazil, and Thailand. After our daughter, Camila, was born in 2018, we moved to San Diego to be closer to Elise’s family. Now we love to cook, go to the beach, and spend time with our extended family and friends on the weekends. Our family has seven babies and toddler cousins, and Camila loves to play in the backyard, share toys, and jump on the trampoline with each of them. During our free time, we enjoy yoga (Camila too! She has a fabulous “tree pose.”), walking around our neighborhood, and exploring new playgrounds and parks.

Our Home

When we bought our house, we had our future children in mind from the start. We searched for one with good schools nearby, enough room for lots of babies, and welcoming neighbors. Our home has a beautiful backyard where Camila and her neighborhood friends or cousins can play with the splash pad, slide, and sandbox. We go to the school playground a block from our house after dinner to watch dogs play and meet new friends. Our neighborhood is small, and on summer days, Camila loves to have a “baby party,” where all the kids ride their bikes or jump on the trampoline and the parents watch in the driveway. On the weekends, we like to explore the zoo and go to our local YMCA’s splash pad and pool.

Our Extended Family

Growing up with only one older brother, Elise dreamed of a big family and having lots of kids in the house. When she met Steve, she realized he was living her dream! Steve has four brothers and sisters and was always having fun running around and getting into trouble with them growing up. These days, Steve’s family gets together on the weekends to celebrate birthdays and holidays and just to catch up. Steve’s sisters both have young children, and we believe it is important to have time together to create fun memories. Although Steve’s brother lives in a different state, we make sure to FaceTime with his daughters when all the cousins are together.

We get together with Elise’s family for birthdays and holidays, where Elise’s mom cooks amazing food and we all eat too much! Her brother has two children for Camila to play with, and they like to ride their scooters or play with their bubble machine. In addition to both of our families, we have a small group of friends from college that we consider our “extended family” and come together for backyard BBQs and gatherings often. Between our friends and family, there is never a dull moment and always a reason to celebrate (and eat!).

What Led Us To Adoption

We are very hopeful and excited to start our adoption process. All of our friends know Elise loves children and Steve loves playing with their toys! Adoption has always been in Elise’s heart, and after having Camila, she realized all babies are true miracles. Steve grew up with cousins and grandparents living with his family and is excited to have a house full of kids, laughs, and toys. After learning more biological children were not an option, several friends and coworkers shared their special adoption stories, and we knew it was meant to be. Our journey to adopt was never a question, just a matter of time.
