dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

The love, courage, and bravery you are showing by exploring this path is something we respect beyond words. We can’t begin to imagine the emotions you must be feeling and how difficult this decision must be for you. We would be honored to offer you the peace of mind that your child will always be cared for and given all the opportunities, stability, and support we are able to.
We believe every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to grow, learn, and explore. As parents, we are committed to providing not only for their physical needs but also their emotional and intellectual growth, helping them discover who they are and what makes them unique.

We will make sure your child knows how much love surrounds them—from you, us, and everyone in our given and chosen families. We understand this is a very difficult and emotional time for you. We want you to know we are here with open hearts and respect your decision-making process greatly.

Our hearts are filled with hope and excitement as we look forward to welcoming another child into our home, where they will be surrounded by warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Thank you for considering us. We are open to any communication you may need or desire.

With deepest gratitude,
Ellie and Kristy

-Ellie & Kristy

About Us

We are an outdoor-loving couple who actively seek new experiences, both personally and professionally. While Kristy is more social and enjoys adrenaline-filled hobbies like Brazilian jiu jitsu, Ellie appreciates a walk through the woods or spare time to sit down with a book. We both have found professional fulfillment through careers of service. Kristy works full time as a firefighter and paramedic; she enjoys gaining new technical skills to be prepared for myriad emergency situations. Ellie is an emergency physician who has the privilege of caring for people on some of their worst days but also sometimes just for reassurance and a bandage. We spend our days off together with our four-year-old daughter playing at our neighborhood park, cooking, doing puzzles, and attending local sporting events. We make traveling as a family a priority, even just for a few days “up North.”

Our Home & Pets

Our home is located in a Michigan college town with a diverse population known for its welcoming community and strong educational system. The area is rich in parks, nature trails, and family-friendly amenities, making it an ideal place for raising children. Our contemporary-style home has a fenced backyard that fills with maple leaves in the fall. We enjoy spending time out as a family at college sporting events or the children’s museum and exploring new local restaurants. Our energetic Aussiedoodle loves joining us to play in the snow, in the water, and for sunshine-soaked naps.

Our Extended Family

We are both transplants to Michigan, so we have made a local chosen family to share milestones, special occasions, and life’s daily ups and downs. We have close friends and their children embracing their roles as our daughter’s “aunties” and “cousins.”

Ellie grew up in Minnesota, and we travel there about once a year to visit her parents, extended family, and college friends. Her brother lives in Washington with his wife and their blind cattle-dog. Time together with them usually involves day trips into the mountains and plenty of fresh seafood. She has a large extended family, so birthdays and holidays growing up could fill the house with 15 to 20 aunts, uncles, cousins, and close family friends.

Kristy is originally from the Chicagoland area, where her brother still lives, while her parents live in Georgia. Kristy has a special relationship with her maternal grandmother, who helped raise her. We generally see “Nana and Papa” about three times a year. We make regular trips to Chicago to see her brother and old friends and to attend baseball games. We have an annual tradition of meeting up with her immediate family in the early fall for a long weekend to enjoy the changing of seasons together.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always known we wanted to be parents and to raise curious, compassionate little humans. We were grateful to have initial success with IVF treatment and have our daughter. We had a few unsuccessful rounds of fertility treatments over the following years, although our desire to grow our family never faded. We are fortunate to have friends who have adopted and speak highly of it, so the decision to pursue adoption was a no-brainer. We have chosen adoption for so many reasons. It feels like a beautiful way to expand our family and provide a loving, safe home to a child. Ultimately, adoption represents hope, love, and the possibility of growing our family unit.
