Giuseppe & Jon

Family Type: Gay Couple
State We live in: Missouri

dear expectant mother

We want to love your baby. We will love them with our empathy that’s grown through the challenges of being apart from people we love. We’ll love them with our resources that we have built and are blessed to have. We will love them unconditionally because as gay men, we have known the pain of conditional love. Our lives will be a sanctuary for your baby so they can grow into their fullest selves on the terms they set as they get older.

We both believe deeply in honesty, kindness, and honoring our feelings even when it’s difficult. We want to share those values so your baby can love themselves and the beautiful things in the world that we see together. They’ll know they have people at home who will always see their best selves inside of them even when they fall down and need help getting back up.

Your baby will be surrounded by family, chosen family, and a community that will love them with intensity and completeness. They’ll know many different kinds of people they might want to grow up to become like. They’ll be in a family who loves learning and are teachers and professors. They’ll learn through English and Spanish as well as art and music.

We are ready to love and support your baby as they grow up. We will watch in wonder as they open up all their potential. We hope our unconditional love can be a safe haven for your baby. We know our love has been a haven for us.

About Us

We met on a blind date in a small, quiet park in the spring of 2020. It was as close to love at first sight as either of us ever experienced. With lockdowns, Jon became a stay-at-home teacher working to reach his students online, and Giuseppe worked to finish his master’s as a classical composer. In that time of uncertainty, we both knew we wanted new relationships that would nourish our souls. We took a leap of faith, and a year later, we were married in our backyard. Since then, Giuseppe has worked with nationally renowned performers and composers. Soon his music will be performed by a major orchestra in the Midwest. He works in the visual arts community to make ends meet. Jon renewed his passion for teaching art. We love gardening, working on house projects, cooking, and hosting friends and family for board games and dinners.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a historic, century-old home in a bustling, diverse neighborhood. Our pups, Peanut and Pickle, say hi to everyone on our walks. One block away is a beautiful park with a playground, community gardens, and tennis courts. A few steps farther are our city’s art museums and art school. The neighborhood is full of restaurants from cultures around the world, and we have shopping nearby where your baby will undoubtedly get the cutest outfits. There are many schools nearby, including an international academy and a French-immersion school. The school district Jon works at also has a great early childhood program. We will fight for the absolute best education for your baby.

Our Extended Family

We are both close with our extended families and chosen family. Jon’s dad lives in Arkansas, and Giuseppe‘s mom, brothers, and sister are in the Dominican Republic. One of his brothers visits so often he practically lives here part time! We all visit back and forth frequently, so it’s pretty likely your baby will get to visit a tropical island when they are old enough.

Our chosen family includes friends that Jon has known for over 20 years. Giuseppe brought many old friends from the D.R. and musicians from his studies into our family. Many of them live here in our city and share dinners and Christmases in our home. Another lifelong friend is in Chicago, and she regularly hosts us in the big city. The dining room and guest room in our big old house are always full of friends and loved ones.

What Led Us To Adoption

Building a family together was important to both of us from the very beginning. The more we talked and inspected our values, the more we knew adoption was right for us. Jon was adopted as an infant. He knows how much good comes from adoption and also the challenges adopted kids encounter. Growing up in the Dominican Republic, Giuseppe saw how hard life can be on kids when they don't have all the resources they need. Adoption is a choice of conscience and heart for both of us. Your baby will know they are special and perfect because they joined our family through adoption. They will know every part of their journey is important and that we love those things about them unconditionally.
