Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State We live in: Texas

dear expectant mother

Thank you for taking the time to consider us as a potential home for your child. We do not know your situation nor can we comprehend the complex emotions you are feeling. We do know you are strong, loving, and courageous for bringing a life into this world and making decisions to give your child the best life possible. We hope you take comfort in knowing that whatever you choose is what is best and what is right, and we are honored that you might choose us as the loving home for your baby.

Our home is full of life, music, and adventure. We are financially stable enough for Heather to stay home with the baby. The child we adopt will have ample early childhood education opportunities. As they grow, they can learn to cook, sew, make music, or play sports. We will always encourage them to fully be who God created them to be.

We are excited to potentially welcome your baby into our family, where they will be loved and adored. You would be giving us a gift that is beyond words. Although we were not able to have biological children together, we have always wanted to adopt. You would be giving us the most precious gift you can: a new life. You can at least rest a little easier knowing your baby will be loved and cherished their whole life.

Thank you for taking the time to consider us as a potential home for your child.

About Us

We are Heather and Thomas. We are both fun-loving high school teachers. Thomas is the quirky nerd who loves to make others laugh. He teaches history, economics, and psychology. Heather is the caring people-person who loves to relate to everyone around her. She teaches math and Spanish but plans to stay home with the baby. We love relaxing at home as well as visiting with family and friends. We enjoy camping, hiking, cooking, crafts, puzzles, going to fan conventions, motorcycle riding, and spending time with family at home. We really enjoy traveling, especially when we get to visit the beach and amusement parks. We are active in our non-denominational, multicultural church, where we serve as part of the children’s ministry. Kids are a very special part of our lives, and we always enjoy family time together each evening when we share about our day over dinner.

Our Home & Pets

We live in the suburbs of a big city in Texas. Our area has several major sports teams, lots of museums and cultural attractions, and amusement parks. We back up to a local park and some neighbors have acreage and horses, so we get a country feel. It is a safe neighborhood with good schools. There are a lot of kids in the neighborhood who play outside. We have four kids, ages 11 to 16, from Thomas’s first marriage, who live with us half the time. The house is full of life and energy when they are here. We also have three mostly outdoor dogs, an indoor cat, and an iguana. In the summers, we swim a lot in our above-ground pool.

Our Extended Family

We have a very large and close extended family network. Heather has four siblings (three of whom are married), three nephews, both parents, and her grandma, who all live within a 30-minute drive and whom we see multiple times a month. Thomas’s parents live about four hours away, but we talk to them weekly and see them about four times a year. We also have an untraditional extended family that includes Thomas’s ex-wife and her new spouse and step-kids as well as her parents, whom we go to stay with several times a year. Thomas has one brother, and we both have lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Some favorite things to do with family are extended family dinners, playing with the nephews (who are all two years old and under), hiking, riding motorcycles in the small town where Thomas’s parents live, and camping. The kids love getting spoiled by grandparents who have greatly mastered that art.

What Led Us To Adoption

Adoption is an important part of our lives. Thomas’s son was adopted when he was about two years old and, of the four kids, is the most kind-hearted and affectionate. Many of our friends have also chosen to give kids a loving home through adoption, such as Thomas’s best friend and several of Heather’s friends. Prior to our marriage, Heather was a foster parent and has always felt that adoption was going to be part of her future. We want to adopt together not only because we want to grow as a family but because we want to give a child a loving and supportive home.
