dear expectant mother

As we write this letter, we are filled with emotions—excitement, hope, and gratitude that you may consider us as potential adoptive parents for your precious child. We can only imagine the emotions you are feeling as well. We want you to know we are grateful for your selflessness. If you choose us, we will honor this gift the best way we know how—by providing endless love and opportunity for your child.

We value individuality and promise to respect your child’s personality, interests, and culture. We will provide your child with a variety of experiences, even if they are out of our comfort zone, so they have the freedom to express themselves. We will always encourage your child to try their best, to chase their dreams, and to never give up on themselves.

We promise to provide a safe and loving home for your child. This doesn’t stop at our immediate family but includes extended family and friends. We will prioritize your child’s emotional well-being and ensure they receive the support and protection they need to thrive.

Last but not least, we promise to provide your child with a life full of laughter, adventure, and new experiences. We will travel, try new foods, climb new mountains, and appreciate the beauty around us—all while never taking ourselves too seriously and always finding time to laugh.

We genuinely thank you for your time and consideration.

We will travel, try new foods, climb new mountains, and appreciate the beauty around us—all while never taking ourselves too seriously and always finding time to laugh.

About Us

We met in Colorado in 2006, and our lives have been filled with love, laughter, and adventure ever since. Most weekends, you’ll find us outdoors climbing a mountain peak, discovering a new waterfall, or camping by a stream with our two pups, Turk and Simcoe. These activities are even better when experienced with our friends and family. When we aren’t outdoors, we can be found cheering on our favorite sports teams, attending live music, or enjoying each other’s company at home with a deck of cards. Erika is a pediatric audiologist and was previously a speech-language pathologist. She works at a children’s hospital, diagnosing and treating hearing loss in children to ensure they reach their developmental milestones and full communication potential. Jason has spent the last ten years as a marketing professional and is currently a marketing director for a national restaurant company.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a suburb close enough to the hustle and bustle of a big city but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of our wooded lot. Our neighborhood is a mix of longtime residents and young families. Our house has four bedrooms, a walkout basement, and, most importantly to us, a spacious backyard where there is plenty of room for our dogs and future kiddos. We enjoy watching the neighborhood deer walk through on a daily basis. There are several nearby parks that offer trails, playgrounds, athletic fields, and river access. We’re also a short drive away from schools, the zoo, an aquarium, an amusement park, sporting events, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is always something to do and explore!

Our Extended Family

Jason was adopted at birth by a loving mother and father and was their first child. He has a younger sister who was also adopted from a different birthmother. Jason and his sister knew from the beginning that they were adopted; there was never a “big reveal,” and we plan to treat their adoption the same way. Jason grew up in Colorado playing sports and taking road trips with his family.

Erika grew up in Wisconsin with her mom, dad, and older brother. Her family enjoyed traveling and spending time with aunts, uncles, and cousins at the family lake house. Erika was a dancer and a scholar.

While our families are both in different states, we make sure to prioritize spending time with them throughout the year. One of our highlights of each year is spending a week at the lake house with Erika’s family, boating, fishing, playing card games, having campfires, and spoiling our nieces. We also look forward each year to celebrating Christmas with Jason’s family by eating fondue and Grandma’s cookies.

What Led Us To Adoption

Jason was adopted at birth. He has experienced firsthand how important and impactful adoption can be for a child, the birth mother, and the adoptive parents. Erika is no stranger to adoption as she has multiple cousins and friends who were adopted. We’ve spent a lot of time discussing expanding our family of two, and the decision to adopt seemed to come naturally to both of us. We have a lot of love to share, and we’d be grateful for the chance to share that love with a child and expectant mother through adoption.
