Our adoption profile

Jessica & Cory

Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State We live in: Texas

dear expectant mother

From childhood, we both dreamed of the day we would have a family to share life with and create lasting memories. The thought of hearing the pitter-patter of little feet across the floor and filling our home with laughter warms our hearts.

Jessica was adopted at birth, and that experience has profoundly shaped her understanding of family. Growing up alongside her older siblings was such a positive and cherished experience. It taught her that the bonds we share as a family go far beyond biology. To Jessica, family is about love, support, and the connections we build together, no matter how we come to be. She is deeply proud of her biological mother for the difficult decision she made and has immense respect for the love and courage behind it.

We want to honor your feelings throughout this process and assure you that we are committed to providing a home filled with warmth, acceptance, and unwavering love. Your love and bravery in bringing your child into the world speak volumes about the kind of person you are. We promise to share our child’s story with them in a way that honors you, respectfully incorporating the love and strength that led to their adoption. As we prepare to welcome your precious child, please know how honored we feel to be entrusted with this beautiful responsibility. Thank you for the trust and love you’ve shown in considering this decision.

Our Lifestyle

We describe our lifestyle as balanced, with a strong focus on spending time together and enjoying the work we do. At home, we love relaxing with our pets—two dogs, Brody (a chocolate Lab) and Mercy (a white Shepherd), and our cat, Heidi. Whether we’re watching Food Network, gardening, playing games, or building with Lego, we treasure those simple moments.

We also enjoy road trips, often bringing the dogs along, and once a year we try to travel internationally. During those trips, the dogs stay with friends while Aunt Suzy housesits with Heidi. A couple of times each month, we gather with friends for board games or host dinners, filling our home with laughter and connection.

We both work full-time as detectives, spending much of our careers investigating crimes against children. While challenging, the work has been incredibly rewarding, allowing us to help families and protect kids. With flexible schedules, ample time off, and excellent benefits, we’re excited to welcome a child into our lives, surrounding them with love, laughter, and security.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We recently purchased a brand-new home in Texas that gives us plenty of space for our family to grow. We love our new space and are excited to share it with others. Our neighborhood is still developing, and one of our best friends lives here with their two children, which makes it feel even more like home. We enjoy spending time at the local pool and walking our dogs in the nearby park.

Just fifteen minutes from our home is a private school we’ve chosen for nursery and schooling. Having experienced both public and private education, we appreciate the added opportunities that private schools can offer. Our local Baptist church, where we attend services every Sunday, is also only fifteen minutes away, giving us a close-knit community of faith and support.

Our Family & Friends

Our family includes Jessica’s mom, her biological father, three sisters, and two brothers. Cory has one brother. Sadly, Jessica’s dad and Cory’s parents have passed away, but the love and values they instilled in us continue to shape who we are today. Together, we are blessed with 14 nieces and nephews, and we stay actively involved in their lives.

In addition to family, we are surrounded by a close circle of friends who feel just like family. We love spending time together—whether gathering at one another’s homes to eat, swim, play games, or simply hang out. We also have dear friends who live in England, and it’s become a special tradition to visit with them once a year, either here or abroad. These relationships bring so much joy, laughter, and community into our lives, and we are excited to welcome a child into this circle of love and support.

Our Favorite Adventures

We would say the life we’ve built together has been our greatest adventure. Before marriage, we were best friends, and that foundation has carried into everything we do. We love taking our dogs on trips across our state and into neighboring ones, where we camp, explore the outdoors, and soak in new experiences. Traveling with friends has also created amazing memories, and our favorite destination so far has been Scotland, where we explored the Highlands, visited castles, and wandered through Edinburgh. As much as we enjoy traveling, we also treasure our time at home—baking, cooking together, gardening, or simply relaxing with our pets. Whether at home or away, we’ve built a life rooted in joy, curiosity, and togetherness, and we can’t wait to share that with a child.
