dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Until now, we have not met each other. We have lived our lives separately, not knowing that soon we would be connected on a deep and spiritual level. This letter is to thank you for considering us and to tell you how incredible you are. You are courageous, you are beautiful, and you are loved. We are so grateful you are considering such a brave and selfless decision to go the route of adoption. Your bravery may give us the chance to be parents and start a family of our own.

Our relationship and household is so full of love, and we plan on giving your child the happiest life possible. We cannot do this without you, and for this, we will always be thankful for you and your family. You are considering giving us the greatest gift on Earth, and we will carry that appreciation in our hearts forever. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

About Us

First and foremost, we are proud fathers to our adopted son. It is the most important role for both of us. Since he was born, our hearts have been overfilled with love. Becoming fathers has been the greatest journey of our lives. Secondly, but not less importantly, we are loving husbands. We are each other’s rocks through every journey in life and have been basically since we met. Six years ago, we crossed paths at the gym. It was love at first sight and quickly formed into an unbreakable bond. Through the years, we have watched each other grow in several facets of life, including in our professions. David is now a licensed doctor, and Jimmy is the creative director and owner of an international event agency. On any given night, you can find us on the couch trying to make the other one laugh. We balance each other out perfectly and are each other’s best friend.

Our Home

We recently moved back to the Midwest from Southern California to be closer to family. Having our son be near his cousins, uncles and aunts, and grandparents is extremely important to us. Our home is in one of the top-ranking safest cities in our state, and our city is full of parks, playgrounds, museums, and family-friendly activities. We are currently members of two nearby children’s museums and also the local pool/waterpark. Our home itself has a lot of rooms, and several rooms are dedicated playrooms with toys, craft areas, stuffed animals, and books. It is extremely important to us to constantly be playing and engaging with our son, and our home is the perfect place to do this!

Our Extended Family

Family is everything to us. We both have extremely strong bonds with our families, and they are thrilled about our latest adoption journey. When we told them we had decided to proceed with adoption again, saying they got emotional would be an understatement. The bond they have with our son is stronger than any bond we have seen, and in return, the amount of love he has for them is beyond measure. He loves his grandparents, his aunts and uncles, and all of his cousins. Currently he is the only boy grandchild, so they all treat him like a prince!

Holidays are spent with our extended families. They either travel to us or we travel to them, but no matter what, we are together. Luckily, since our families are only a few hours apart, we have the great situation of not leaving anyone out. The saying “home for the holidays” rings true for both of us.

As a couple, we have made traveling a tradition. We do one big trip a year, such as Italy or Tulum, and then several smaller, drivable excursions to the mountains or nearby ocean cities. Our son has come on a few of the smaller trips with us, and core memories have been ignited. Watching everything new through his eyes is a beautiful experience.

Our Adoption Story

We have been through this process before and have seen the beautiful side of it. That’s not to say there wasn’t fear and anxiety as well. It’s a journey with dips and valleys, but we are each other’s support, as much or as little as you want. There are mothers in need, and there are couples in need. When life connects the two, it is the most beautiful thing on Earth. That is why we have chosen adoption again.
