dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mom,

We cannot know what you are going through right now or how difficult this is for you. That being said, we have deep respect for you and your decision to carry your child this far while not knowing what the future will bring.

We would like you to know, if you choose us, your child will grow up loved, cherished, and doted on. Your baby will have everything they need and more. We will teach your baby to be kind and helpful, respect their elders, take care of others, and work hard in school, and we dream of exposing your baby to other cultures by going on vacations around the world as well as right here in the United States. We dream of Christmas mornings filled with love and laughter and taking your baby to the zoo, the beach, museums, parks, pools, and trick-or-treating on Halloween.

We want you to be a part of our life and your child’s life as much or as little as you want to be. We respect your choice, whether or not that will change as your child gets older. We hope and pray for the best for you and your baby.

With respect and love,
Julie, Jo Ann, and John

We would like you to know, if you choose us, your child will grow up loved, cherished, and doted on.

-Julie & Jo Ann

About Us

We met at the hospital where Jo Ann completed her family medicine physician residency and Julie was a charge nurse on the medical-surgical unit. In addition to being a physician, Jo Ann is an Episcopal priest, while Julie, a pediatric nurse for many years, currently stays home with our three-year-old son. Through all of life’s challenges and changes, we have remained steadfast and faithful to each other; in fact, our love has grown deeper each day and with each new challenge. Together, we enjoy traveling and volunteering, both locally and internationally; spending time with family and friends; going to concerts, plays, and museums; and attending holiday gatherings and festivals.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a two-story, four-bedroom home on a quiet, tree-lined street in a suburban neighborhood one hour outside a large city. Your baby will have a large, bright room filled with toys, games, and clothes. The local school is right down the street! We love the area we live in because there is a river nearby with beautiful forest preserves and walking paths. We love that just a few minutes from us are farms and open fields. We enjoy the farmers’ market, festivals, and live music our town offers. The city and our surrounding suburbs and towns have many recreational and cultural offerings for us and our family to enjoy, and one of these is our local park district, which has a wide variety of programs and facilities for us to utilize.

Our Extended Family

We love Christmas, and we love celebrating with our family! Our favorite tradition on Christmas Eve is to have a large family gathering followed by a candlelight Christmas Eve service. In addition, one of our favorite Easter traditions is after church, when Julie dresses up as the Easter bunny for the family Easter egg hunt! As you can see by our favorite holidays, church is a central part of our lives, and your baby will be welcomed with open arms by our church family as well as our biological family.

We frequently travel to visit Julie’s brothers and extended family, who are scattered throughout the United States, and they visit us often as well. Jo Ann’s two siblings and parents live locally and are very close-knit. Our four young nieces and one nephew are very important to us, and we try to attend as many of their special events as possible. We have them for sleepovers during spring and summer breaks and stay up late watching movies. Our son and his cousins love hanging out together! We also have a large group of friends who we are very close to.

We simply cannot wait to make your baby a part of our large, loving family!

Our Adoption Story

We have both always wanted to be moms through adoption and fostering, but we had also hoped for a biological child. Seven years ago, Jo Ann delivered our precious baby boy, Jesse, and he was with us earthside for thirteen days. While no child can replace him, we ultimately decided to continue to grow our family. We have pursued foster parenting as well but chose to build our family through infant adoption. Our son, John, whom we adopted through LifeLong, is now three years old and is excited to become a big brother! He is a joy and a delight and makes us laugh every single day. We have an open adoption with his birthmother, and we honor her decision in regard to how she wants to be involved. Julie has family members who have been touched by adoption as well.
