About Us

Opposites attract is more than just an overused cliché; for us, it is our truth. Bill started his career as a high school English teacher and, after two advanced degrees, has worked his way up to assistant principal at a local high school. He is passionate about being an optimistic and positive influence for youth in their formative years as they discover their purpose. Joe began his career in engineering after receiving his master’s degree and now works with an alternative energy company helping to launch new products for a more sustainable future. Joe is structured and approaches situations with logic and reasoning, while Bill is spontaneous and uses his emotions to help balance decisions and solutions. While we complement each other’s personality differences, at the end of the day, we enjoy many of the same things, such as sports, binge-watching our favorite TV series, and spending time with friends and family.

Our Home & Pets

Recognizing that a long-distance relationship was no longer feasible, Bill and his two cats, Hawk and Stark, moved from central Delaware into Joe’s townhouse in southeastern Pennsylvania in 2021. Our three-story townhome is located in a suburban cul-de-sac bustling with families and young couples. It provides us the space and privacy to build our family while also allowing us to foster strong community relationships. Our home is surrounded by several public parks, local shops and restaurants, and strong schools with extracurricular programming. It is exactly the suburban experience we envisioned in our family-building journey. We are only a short drive from multiple major cities, providing us with quick connections and opportunities for many entertainment options, including theaters, stadiums, museums, and zoos.

Our Extended Family

Joe grew up close to the beaches of suburban Long Island with his parents and two younger brothers. He has three living grandparents, all of whom immigrated to the U.S. in the mid-1900s (mother’s side from Ecuador and father’s side from Italy). Joe has seven biological cousins but significantly more “cousins” that frequently get together for life celebrations or general shenanigans. We make it a priority to visit as often as possible and are excited to be first-time uncles to our nephew born in February 2024.

Bill grew up with his parents, his brother, and his grandmother in the suburbs of Delaware. Despite being empty nesters, BIll’s parents are passionate about maintaining a close family relationship, and the group gets together at least once a week with extended family to share a meal and watch football. Although all of his biological grandparents have passed away, Bill has a large and local extended biological and “chosen” family that gathers for holidays, birthdays, and other celebrations. Most notably, the crew has gathered together for over 31 years during the same week in July in Cape May, NJ, for their annual family vacation. It’s a tradition we hope to continue for many years to come!

What Led Us To Adoption

Although our personalities may differ, we both knew we had a strong desire to parent. As a gay couple, we knew our family-forming journey would need to be unique for our situation. After numerous purposeful discussions, we knew adoption would be the best option to grow our family, especially having seen the power of adoption firsthand. Unable to have biological children of their own, Bill’s aunt and uncle adopted three daughters and gave them a loving and nurturing home. Furthermore, one of their daughters also chose to adopt two children, growing our extended family. Having directly seen the beauty of adoption in the lives of both the child and parent, we knew we were called to create this legacy of love through the adoption process.
