About Us

Hello! Our story began in early 2014 on a snowy night in NYC when we connected online and decided to meet in person. That night, we took a memorable walk that sparked a relationship filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Ever since, we've been inseparable, growing together while cherishing the joy and connection that brought us together in the first place. We are both fun-loving and share an amazing sense of humor, constantly keeping each other laughing and on our toes. Our strong work ethic drives us to take our careers seriously, yet we never lose sight of the importance of personal growth and professional development. A shared love for the outdoors is a cornerstone of our bond. We enjoy everything from daily walks with our beloved pet around the neighborhood to adventurous hikes in the scenic mountains of upstate New York.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a lovely, well-established Georgia neighborhood, where kids can often be seen riding scooters, bikes, and golf carts. The area has a strong sense of community, with neighbors stopping to chat while walking their dogs and looking out for each other when needed. We're conveniently close to local restaurants, shops, and a weekly farmers market during the warmer months. Our family includes our 11-year-old dog, Maizy, whom we've had since 2014, and our newest addition, a rescued kitten named Stormi, who’s just under six months old. We also have an apartment in Brooklyn, NY, that we frequent.

Our Extended Family

Joel grew up in a warm and vibrant family with two sisters and one brother. His father’s extended family is quite large, with two aunts and two uncles, while his mother’s side is smaller, with one aunt. Family gatherings were always filled with laughter, storytelling, and quality time. From Thanksgiving to the Fourth of July, traditions play a central role thanks to Joel’s mother, an enthusiastic decorator who brings every holiday to life—none more so than Christmas. Each year, the family begins the holiday season by opening gifts at home before heading to Mema’s for a cozy and memorable Christmas dinner.

Addison, in contrast, grew up in a smaller family with just his younger sister. His extended family includes two aunts and three uncles on his father’s side and one aunt on his mother’s side. A cherished tradition on his father’s side is the annual October gathering to prepare a hearty meat stew known as “burgoo.” Games are a cornerstone of family bonding, creating cherished memories for both close and extended relatives. Growing up, the holiday season in Addison’s household meant a weekend dedicated to transforming the home, pulling decorations from the attic, and preparing for the festivities together.

What Led Us To Adoption

We feel adoption is a beautiful and transformative journey for everyone involved. What excites us most is how it unites people to create families rooted in love and affection, not just biology. This process offers growth for both immediate and extended family members. Our decision to adopt comes from a deep desire to build a family and share our lives with a child. Years ago, in conversations about the importance of family, we realized the love we felt for our nephews showed us it was the right time to begin this journey.
