About Us

Joey grew up in central Minnesota, attended college in Iowa, and received his master’s degree in Nevada. Aaron grew up in Oklahoma and attended college in Tennessee. Joey is a hospitality executive at a luxury travel brand, and Aaron works for a leading short-term vacation rental company. In 2018 we successfully adopted our two-year-old daughter, Sloane. We love spending time together as a family, cooking, weekend camping, spending time outside, and taking our dogs to the park. We love to travel and have been blessed in our careers to be able to see a lot of the world. Aaron regularly sings with our church’s contemporary praise brand on Sundays. We have been in a committed, loving relationship for seven years and have been married since the spring of 2016.

Our Home & Pets

We have four dogs: Theo, a great Dane who thinks he is a lap dog, and Squirt, Sebastian, and Benny, who are rescues. They are the best of friends and are so loving and gentle with our daughter. We live in a sprawling neighborhood that includes parks and trails and is surrounded by protected open space. We are close to our neighbors and their children. Our neighborhood is diverse. It is in the best school district in the state, and it is a safe place to live.

Our Extended Family

We are very close with our families. Joey comes from a large family and is the middle of nine. Aaron has a brother. Collectively we have 22 nieces and nephews. We like to visit and spend time with family as much as possible and often host our extended family for holidays. We are also very blessed to have family overseas in England.

We love the holidays. Coming from large extended families, the holidays are centered around food, fun, and games. Easter is a big deal for Joey’s family. They host an annual Easter egg hunt for the children each year. We also get very festive around Christmastime. The music, decorations, and holiday baking are in abundance during the Christmas season.

We both were raised in Christian households, and our faith continues to be a driving force in our lives as adults and as a family. Community outreach through our church is something we both enjoy.

Our Adoption Story

We knew shortly after meeting each other that someday we wanted to be parents. After careful research and a lot of prayer, we decided adoption was the best for our family. We also have a large extended family and have witnessed the joy children have brought to the lives of our siblings. With the adoption of our daughter, Sloane, our lives changed for the better. She brought so much joy, love, patience, and energy into our family, and we want to expand our love by growing our family.
