Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State we live in: Washington

dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

The most important and challenging part of this process is explaining to you why you should consider us to raise your baby. Making the decision to trust another with the new life you bring into this world is a commitment that only you can truly recognize. No matter the circumstances, it is a gift for those who receive and a sacrifice for those who give. Please know this: It will be our honor, duty, and obligation to provide a life rich in love and kindness to this baby.

There will be no shortage of family gatherings and reunions. There will be pumpkin carving and firework celebrations. Camping trips and outings to the ocean will happen frequently. The opportunity to play sports and join reading clubs will always be available. We will take an enormous amount of pride implementing kindness and cooperation upon this new life, and we will be eternally grateful for the opportunity to do so.

Thank you for considering us with this monumental opportunity.

Please know this: It will be our honor, duty, and obligation to provide a life rich in love and kindness to this baby.

About Us

We have complementary personalities: a quiet one and a more gregarious one, a sports fan and a craft enthusiast, a golf professional and an IV technician. We enjoy being near each other because it enriches our experiences and takes us out of our comfort zones. We love to get out of the house whenever the opportunity arises to take advantage of all the opportunities our region of the country provides, from hiking and exploring to visiting the ocean or mountain ranges. We met in 2012 when we both worked at the same facility…and we never looked back. We had similar ideas for what we wanted our lives to become; we just needed to find each other before we could start. We have been blessed to have met one another all those years ago. We are both better people for having met each other and cannot wait to see what our future holds.

Our Home & Pets

We own a split-level home in the city where we both grew up and our family continues to reside. Our home is unique in that it has all four bedrooms on the same level next to one another. The upper level has our common space where we spend the majority of time in the cooler winter months, and there’s space on the lower level when the weather heats up. We live at the end of a cul-de-sac. The backyard is quite spacious with a swing set and a cabin for our son to play with. Our neighborhood is absolutely perfect for trick-or-treating, with many younger families and some retirees who love to walk our community. We own four lazy cats who do not mind young kids picking them up.

Our Extended Family

We have a total of seven parents and step-parents, with eleven siblings and in-laws. They all live within one hour of our home. Should we have the opportunity to become parents again, we know there would be an enormous family ready to love and support them throughout their life.

We all celebrate Easter, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas as a family. This means that if it is not a holiday, it must be someone’s birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc. Should it be a day that does not fall into one of these categories, then the grandparents are taking the grandkids camping or attending one of their tee-ball games, track meets, soccer matches, or basketball games. We have an amazing support structure.

Our families are not only very large but also incredibly diverse. We have members of our family from different ethnic backgrounds and personal identities. Their professional backgrounds vary from professional artist, educator, and healthcare worker to law enforcement officer and many more.

What Led Us To Adoption

Adoption would mean an opportunity for our son to have a sibling of his own. Having the privilege of being able to have a shared childhood would mean the world to him and to us.

The second opportunity a potential adoption would provide would be for us to become parents again. Our son is the greatest blessing we could have ever hoped for. Unfortunately, because of exceptional complications during pregnancy, including the potential for loss of life for both mother and baby, and the high likelihood of recurrence, we are unable to bring another life into this world. Our family has been blessed through adoption in the past as cousins of ours were able to adopt twin boys from Somalia.
