Family Type: Gay Couple
State We live in: California

dear expectant mother

While we cannot begin to comprehend the emotions and feelings you are experiencing, we hope we can make the decision even just a little bit easier for you for your possible gift of life to us as a couple, knowing that we would be forever grateful and honored for you choosing us to raise your child. We will offer them the chance to grow into the individual they are meant to be, providing them a loving home, emotional support, a caring extended family, and the freedom to choose their own path in life. We will do our best to teach them care and compassion and to instill in them a sense of personal responsibility to make their community, their environment, and the lives of others around them better than they found it.

We have eagerly anticipated the right moment for welcoming a child into our home, and now that we have firm roots planted, we can think of no better time to begin this journey. We know it will bring smiles, laughter, and delight but also know there will be unforeseen challenges, heightened emotions, and tears but, in the end, an overarching sense of fulfillment, growth, and appreciation for each other.

Thank you again for taking the time to consider us for this journey.

About Us

We have been together for over 14 wonderful years and are looking forward to the next 50! We met in college and quickly bonded over our love for food, movies, the outdoors, and science. Our love for the outdoors took us from the Midwest to the West Coast, where we were able to have better year-round access to hiking, biking, and dog parks for our two dogs. Andrew’s career as a physician allows him the opportunity to help patients get proper care, while John works in accounting and finance relating to sustainable farming practices nationwide. We both love our careers because of the work we do, and we also have a great work–life balance with plenty of time for exploring and creating new memories. We love to cook and bake and, since moving into our new neighborhood a year ago, have hosted multiple dinner parties with the neighbors.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a quaint house in a beautiful, scenic neighborhood with beautiful views of wooded national parkland out our back door. There is even a trail that traverses our backyard that provides easy access to nature and the beach. Our neighborhood is full of families with children of all ages, who have access to some of the best public school systems in the country. We have numerous parks and playgrounds near our neighborhood, and we live less than ten miles from a major city with zoos, museums, aquariums, and parks. We have two adorable and loving small dogs, a pug and a King Charles cavalier, with whom we have shared many great memories and who would love to snuggle with a new member of the family!

Our Extended Family

John is one of four children in his immediate family and one in a magnitude of cousins and extended family members spread across the U.S. Andrew has one brother and a relatively large extended family, also spread out wide across the U.S. Since moving west, we visit Indiana a few times a year to visit both of our parents, siblings, and John’s young niece. A lot of John’s extended family lives on the East Coast, so we visit this area every year to try to see as many people as possible.

While the distance between our various family members can be great, everyone in our family is loving, caring, supportive, and excited for us to be able to welcome a child into our collective home. Luckily our friends and family love to visit us, so even though we can’t make it to every birthday party or holiday gathering, we have had the pleasure of hosting them numerous times over the past few years.

What Led Us To Adoption

While exploring the possibilities for growing our family, we realized how fortunate we would be to be able to provide a loving, caring home for a child in a supportive community and naturally beautiful outdoor environment. We have been anticipating welcoming a child into our family for years, patiently waiting until we purchased a home and had established roots. While we considered surrogacy, we felt adoption was much more fulfilling for us as we try to be good stewards of the earth, to raise a child in an environmentally responsible and socially conscious manner.
