dear expectant mother

We are so grateful to you for your strength in considering adoption and us as part of your plan. We know that we cannot truly understand how tough these decisions may be for you, but we do hope we can help make the decision easier as you get to know us and our desire to provide a loving home for a child.

We've been together for nearly six years and married for almost two. Our home is full of light, laughter, and love—shared with our dogs, cats, chickens, geese, and quail. It's a place built for family, with woods to explore, porches to gather on, and space to grow.

From early in our relationship, we've dreamed of raising a child together. Adoption has always been part of that vision—an act rooted in love, openness, and immense gratitude. We're both committed to service, community, and faith—Johnny through his EMS work, and Andrew through the Peace Corps and civil service. Our values guide us and have shaped a home centered in kindness, inclusion, and compassion.

Our families and friends, a diverse and loving circle, are eager to welcome a child. They're ready to show up as playmates, mentors, and support through life's big and small moments.

We're excited to share our love for cooking, the arts, exploring, and learning, and just as excited to discover what brings your child joy. While we know parenting isn't perfect, we promise to create a home full of unconditional love, support, and opportunity.

We know that we cannot truly understand how tough these decisions may be for you, but we do hope we can help make the decision easier as you get to know us and our desire to provide a loving home for a child.

About Us

Good day and thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We would love to take this opportunity to share a bit about ourselves, the kind of people we are, and the kind of life we hope to be able to give a child one day.

We are always looking for the next adventure to go on, be it a place to travel to, a project to take on, on our small farm, a new place to try with friends, etc. We love to engage with the world around us and can't wait to share our explorations as we grow our family.

We are also both committed public servants, with Andrew doing HR and Johnny being an emergency manager for the government and a local EMT. This means that despite our adventures, we have typical Monday through Friday schedules. Our weekends are filled with good friends (most of whom have young children themselves).

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in a country home in Central Virginia. We are surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains with their rolling hills, rivers, waterfalls, and endless hiking trails. We share our home with three dogs: Athena, Tilly, and Gimli; three cats: Violet, Cora, and Jimmy; and a multitude of chickens and geese. The community is small, but diverse, filled with people from all walks of life. We are near the larger metropolitan areas of Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia.

Our Family & Friends

We are fortunate, between us, to have a large, supportive family. On Andrew's side, he has both parents, a brother who is married with two children, and a living grandmother who is 99 years old. He is also lucky to have two cousins on his mother's side and seven on his father's, many of whom have children themselves. Johnny's side of the family is a bit smaller. He has both parents and is an only child. He has two cousins on his mother's side and two on his father's side (who were both themselves adopted). Most of the members of all sides of the family are located on the East Coast and are very excited to be a part of our adoption journey. The child we are blessed with will have many, loving family gatherings to look forward to and a lot of cousins around their age to grow up with.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have both always wanted to be parents, long before even knowing each other. Once we were together, and saw how much love we each have to offer a child, we knew that we were meant to be parents together. Given the make-up of our family, we also knew that adoption was a likely journey we would embark on. This has never been a last resort, however, but something that has excited us. Being able to see the wonderful life that Johnny's aunt and uncle were able to have with his cousins who were adopted has only inspired us both further to grow our family in this same way.
