Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State we live in: Michigan

dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

To say we understand what you are going through would not be fair to the emotions you are surely feeling and the difficult decision that you face. The bravery you have shown to create an adoption plan for your child is something we will forever be grateful for.

Should you choose us, we make these following promises: We promise to care for your child as if they were our own. We promise to love your child unconditionally. We promise to protect him or her. We promise to give them a happy life, full of laughter and joy. We promise to instill a sense of family and kindness in them, and we promise to share with him or her the story of you—that you were the first person to love them and that your love and generosity created our family.

A million thank yous would never be enough to properly show our appreciation for you. We hope you find peace in this plan for your child and know we will forever love him or her. And we will forever be grateful for your gift that will allow us to become a family.

Respectfully,
Joseph and Courtney

We recognize it’s a journey with challenges, but we feel confident we can provide a safe, loving, and nurturing home for a child.

About Us

As far as personalities go, Courtney is more of the go-getter, take-charge type, while Joseph is the more laidback one. We both have the great fortune of working from home. Courtney is a grants specialist for a national early education company, and Joseph is an agency support specialist at a real estate tech company. Both of us enjoy traveling and exploring new destinations. A few of our favorites include Disney World, Jamaica, and our family lake house. We are blessed to have a large extended family as well as friends we love spending time with and often host for get-togethers. At these parties, as a former DJ and musician, Joe is often in charge of the music, and Courtney enjoys cooking, baking, and playing hostess. Many of our friends and family have children and we look forward to including a child of our own in the festivities.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a suburban town in Michigan, the same city Courtney was born and raised and has made wonderful memories in. Our home is in a quiet neighborhood with other children and friendly neighbors. We have a busy community with a bustling downtown that has frequent festivals and events. A few of our favorites include a holiday lighting celebration, a winter festival, summertime farmers markets, and a fall art festival in our local park, where we often take our one-year-old goldendoodle, Toby, for walks. Toby is a lovable, fun dog. Living in Michigan, our summers are often filled with weekend trips “up north” to family and friends’ lake houses. Here we enjoy boat rides, beach days, bonfires, and games.

Our Extended Family

Courtney’s parents have been happily married for 38 years, live nearby, and frequently visit. Unfortunately Courtney’s brother passed away recently, but he is survived by Courtney’s niece, who is six years old, and her nephew, who is four years old. Both have a very special relationship with their Aunt Coco and Uncle Joe, often visiting for family dinners, playdates with our dog, and holiday celebrations. Courtney has numerous aunts and uncles and 28 cousins, many of whom are married and starting families of their own, so our family continues to grow.

Joseph has a smaller extended family, including his parents, one sister, two uncles, two aunts, and a handful of cousins. Joseph’s sister and brother-in-law have two beautiful daughters, our nieces who are four years old and one year old. They live across the country, but we stay connected with lots of FaceTime calls. We often see Joseph’s parents, who split their time between Michigan and their home in Florida. Our parents are thrilled to welcome another grandbaby to their lives.

What Led Us To Adoption

Adoption was always part of our conversation when discussing growing our family. Courtney has a cousin who was adopted at the age of three from China. That introduction to adoption shed light on the love and family an adoption could provide. When we struggled to become pregnant, we looked at other opportunities to grow our family and settled on adoption rather quickly. We recognize it’s a journey with challenges, but we feel confident we can provide a safe, loving, and nurturing home for a child.
