dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

As we write this letter, we're filled with emotions that are difficult to put into words—gratitude, hope, and an immense respect for you and the decision you're contemplating. We can't pretend to know how you feel, but we understand your love for your baby is driving this incredibly tough choice.

Our hearts are already swelling with love and plans for the little one you're carrying. We dream of the warm, caring home we'll provide, where we'll read bedtime stories, explore new places, and encourage every dream. We think about first steps, first words, and all the “firsts” we'd be honored to experience with your child. In every one of those moments, your courage and love will be honored. Your child will know their story, and they'll know about the brave and loving woman who gave them the gift of life.

While our family story may start with the two of us, we understand it becomes richer and more meaningful with you and your child in it. We promise a home filled with love, laughter, and limitless opportunity for your baby.

Thank you for considering us. This is a lifelong commitment for us, and we are profoundly grateful for the chance to love and raise your child in a nurturing home.

With heartfelt gratitude and respect,
Joey & Justin

While our family story may start with the two of us, we understand it becomes richer and more meaningful with you and your child in it.

About Us

We're a couple deeply committed to each other and the life we've built together, thriving in careers that reflect our interests—Justin in financial business intelligence and Joey in environmental research. When we're not working, you'll find us bonding over a variety of board games, from strategy to trivia, fueling our competitive yet fun-loving spirits. Justin has a passion for cooking, and we both revel in the joy of discovering new foods and flavors, often turning mealtime into a culinary adventure. Gardening has become our peaceful weekend ritual, a way to connect with nature right in our backyard. Beyond that, we love taking our energetic dog on outdoor excursions, whether it's a day at the beach or a nature hike. We believe family life will be the next exciting chapter in our ever-growing book of adventures.

Our Home & Pets

Nestled on a picturesque hillside, our home boasts stunning mountain views and a private yard where we often catch awe-inspiring sunrises. Living in California, we're just a short drive from the beach, offering us the best of both worlds—mountains and ocean. Our community is vibrant, diverse, and family friendly, with excellent school districts nearby. As for our furry and feathered family, we have a spirited blue heeler named Ash who loves outdoor adventures, a Sulcata tortoise named Tortellini who enjoys sunbathing in the yard, and five chickens that provide us with fresh eggs and endless entertainment. Our home is a sanctuary of love and life, and we can't wait to share it with a child.

Our Extended Family

Our extended family is a wonderful tapestry of personalities and traditions that spans from Michigan to Chicago. On Justin’s side, his mom and stepdad reside in Michigan, where they have a beautiful river house. Whenever we visit, kayaking on the river is a family tradition we all cherish. The serenity of the water and the joy of paddling alongside loved ones are memories we hold dear. His dad and sister live close by, and our get-togethers often feature barbecues filled with laughter, good food, and stories.

On Joey’s side, his family lives in Chicago and plays an active role in our lives despite the distance. They're currently taking care of our nephew, who just turned one in September, and make it a point to visit us about twice a year. One of their favorite activities when they visit is exploring new restaurants in our area, adding a culinary flair to our family gatherings. Since getting together physically can be challenging, we've made it a tradition to celebrate Easter by coloring eggs together over Zoom. This virtual gathering keeps us connected and adds a colorful and creative twist to our holiday celebrations.

What Led Us To Adoption

Embarking on the journey of adoption feels like the most natural and fulfilling path for us. As a gay couple, we could have opted for surrogacy, but we feel strongly that adoption is the path meant for us to grow our family. The idea of giving a child the gift of family, love, and opportunity excites us immensely. In our circle, we have friends who have been adopted or have adopted, and seeing the immeasurable love and growth in those families has been incredibly inspiring. We can't wait to share our lives, our love, and our daily adventures with a child, enriching our family in ways we've long dreamed of.
