About Us

We often describe ourselves to others as complete opposites, and that is exactly why we work. Justin is an extrovert, numbers/detail-focused individual. Matt is an introvert, arts-focused individual. We have learned so much from one another, and over the years, our bond as a couple and now as husbands has grown stronger. Our shared interests are just as important as our individual interests and hobbies. Living together, buying a house, and adopting a dog have been really important milestones for us as a couple. We both come from families with a strong work ethic, so our careers are important to us. We support each other as much as we can and push each other to be their best self. Outside of our jobs, we love to entertain and spend time with our friends and family. We also enjoy playing and attending sports, movies, shows/concerts, and the beach!

Our Home & Pets

We live in a small townhome community in Northern Virginia with our dog, Sibba, and fish, Zoey. We recently performed a number of renovations on our three-bedroom, two full bath, two half bath home. We are very close with our neighbors and live in a diverse community of kids of various ages, the nation’s leading school district, and trails for walking and hiking. Our community has regular social events where the kids and families hang out and get to know one another. We have immediate access to local attractions, restaurants of various cuisines, farmers markets, shopping, parks, historical sites, and museums. We regularly go to the beach, the mountains, and other major cities, like New York and Boston, to visit friends and family.

Our Extended Family

Matthew grew up in western New York with his parents and two siblings. He was fortunate to grow up with many of his cousins in the area. On Matthew’s father’s side, he has three aunts, one uncle, and ten cousins. On Matthew’s mother’s side, he has one aunt, one uncle, and three cousins. As a family, they spent lots of time together. They had nightly dinners, spent a lot of time playing sports, and attended many family gatherings. Justin has joined Matt’s family beach trips and has enjoyed the holiday gatherings and social get-togethers.

Justin grew up in central Virginia with his mother. Justin was fortunate to grow up with a large family due to having nine aunts and one uncle. He grew up with many of his 35 cousins who lived in the area. Though an only child, Justin had the opportunity for “sibling” growth with so many cousins around. The family has regular get-togethers on the farm to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and family traditions. We have an annual family dinner gathering, which we recently hosted, to honor Justin’s grandmother.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always talked about the importance of building a family together. Over the years, our discussion about beginning a family centered around adopting. During information sessions and family training, we have continued to grow in our understanding of adoption and parenting styles. Our family and friends have made a significant impact in our lives. We are fortunate to have many wonderful examples of different types of families within our network. We have cousins and friends who have birth and adoptive parents. In addition, we take our roles as uncles and godfathers very seriously and prioritize a visit or phone call whenever possible. We have some incredible local friends and family and know they will play a large role in our child’s life. We fully understand it takes a village to raise a child.
