dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking time to view our profile. We are immensely grateful. We know words can’t describe the strength, resilience, and love you possess to be here, reading this letter. Most, if not all, of the goodness that has happened in our family has grown out of love. We write this letter to you out of love and our desire to share our love with a little one.

Although we were raised on different coasts and have vastly different upbringings, we find one common theme from our childhood that we want to nurture and carry into building our family: share when and where you can. This compels us to be here writing this letter in hopes of starting a conversation on how we can share our love and lives to provide for a baby.

Every child deserves a supportive environment to nurture and support them as they discover what they like and who they are. We have been working on creating such an environment since the beginning. There is no one way to make a family, and expectant mothers like yourself chart new paths for couples like us to grow our family.

Thank you so much for considering us. We can't wait to share all the laughs, be there for all the firsts, and raise a strong, kind, smart, and independent child.

With immense gratitude,
Kaitlyn & Kerry

About Us

Laughter is the fuel of our marriage. From our first date to our wedding day, the laughter has been nonstop. Kaitlyn takes pleasure in hanging out with our pups and is amazing in the kitchen, whipping up gourmet, three-course meals from scratch. Kerry is a lifelong learner and is constantly consuming media and tinkering around to expand her knowledge. We start every day with a smile for each other and end every night with a goodnight kiss before we sleep. We work toward the same goals while having different styles and strengths and understand there is seldom one way to achieve something. There are some things we don’t agree on at all, like our drink of choice to start our days: Kaitlyn with a cup of coffee and Kerry with a can of Mountain Dew. We recently celebrated our ten-year anniversary, it was full of laughter.

Our Home & Pets

We are animal lovers. We have three pups, Lupin (4), Moe (10), and Maude (10). Living in a rural suburb outside a major metropolitan area on 1.5 acres, we try to help as many animals as we can. Over the years, we have fostered over nine pups and helped them find their forever homes. Our house is up a secluded driveway, which affords us privacy and immerses us in nature. We have various outdoor seating areas by our pond, by the pool, and on the deck, which allow us to enjoy the beauty of Maryland. Being so close to a major city also means we have access to museums, theaters, and experiences not found in rural areas.

Our Extended Family

We come from very different-sized families. Kaitlyn has a big family with five siblings and 11 nieces and nephews spread out across the United States. The numbers just increase with many aunts, uncles, and cousins between her mother’s and father’s sides. Some family members keep family trees on their smartphones to keep everyone straight.

Kerry only has one brother and three nieces and nephews, and they are all local to the area we grew up in. With COVID impacting her family, she only has one aunt and one uncle still alive and three cousins.

Though our families are different, they both put emphasis on spending time with family. With the cousins in New Jersey, it’s typically a game night with good pizza. With the aunts and uncles down on the shore, we are looking to relax and reminisce. When we are able to get together with other family members, we are taking up a canned good collection as part of our celebration. For both of our families, laughter is the root of our family trees.

What Led Us To Adoption

We believe in putting goodness into the world and setting good intentions. We approach parenthood in the same way. Since the beginning of our relationship, we have talked openly and honestly about having children. When we advanced in our careers and we were emotionally and financially ready to begin our journey to grow our family, all options were on the table. This led us to LifeLong to pursue opening our hearts and home through adoption to a child to grow our family. We are excited to be on this journey and committed to the process so that we can adopt a child.
