Karis & Daniel

Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State We live in: Colorado

dear expectant mother

We want to begin by thanking you from the bottom of our hearts for the opportunity to be considered. Words can never fully express the depth of our gratitude. We know that the decision you are facing is one of the most profound and difficult choices a person can make, and while we cannot begin to understand your position completely, please know that we hold you in the highest respect and compassion.

We are two families who have come together, and our shared outcome is love. Love for each other, love for the life we’ve built, and love for the children we both came to this relationship with, and love for the child we hope to welcome into our home. Our promise is simple but powerful: this child will be loved unconditionally, every single day, for exactly who they are.

We are filled with gratitude for our daily lives and the chance to grow our family. If chosen, we will carry forward that gratitude and pour it into every moment of this child’s life. They will always know that their story began with courage, selflessness, and love—the love you have for them, and the love we will give them endlessly.

Thank you again for considering us. No matter what, we want you to know how much we honor and admire you.

With immense gratitude and love,
Karis and Danny

Our Love Story

Danny came for a job interview, and I (Karis) was the one meeting with him. Beforehand, I tried to google him but found nothing. Then he walked in. I turned the corner, and for a few seconds, the world seemed to stop.

We carried out the meeting professionally, but I left knowing something was different. Somewhere in the conversation I learned he was a “Poppop,” a grandfather. I remember thinking, how old is this man? But by the time I got in my car, I called my best friend and said, “I just met the man I am going to marry.”

Since then, my love for Danny has only deepened. Beyond his humor and kindness, what I treasure most is the way he fathers—with patience, love, and consistency. Watching him parent his children and my son has shown me a kind of devotion I’d never experienced before.

Our life is simple, our love is strong, and our future is bright. In September 2026, we will marry on my biological mother’s birthday—a meaningful beginning to the next chapter of our story.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We’d love to share a glimpse of our home in Colorado. Our neighborhood is full of families, and most evenings you’ll find kids laughing on our trampoline or riding bikes along safe paths through fields and cornfields. We love riding our electric bike together, walking to the pool, park, splash pad, or grabbing ice cream.

Our four-bedroom home has space for workouts and movie nights, and mornings always begin with coffee and gratitude for the life we’re building. We share it with our two German shepherds, Harley and Rocky, and a sweet hamster, Love.
Weekends are spent at soccer or adventuring, often with our older children visiting. Family—biological or chosen—means everything to us, and our home reflects that love.

Our Family & Friends

Family—both chosen and biological—means everything to us. Both of us are in recovery, which has shaped who we are and the life we’ve built. With sponsors and a close-knit tribe in recovery, we live in a community of strength, accountability, and joy.

Our children are full of love and connection:
Jakson (8) is curious, energetic, and loves bugs, video games, and family time.
Gracie (20) is also in recovery and inspires us daily. She spends weekends with us, recharging in the sanctuary of our home.
Jimmy (23) is a devoted father of two little girls, our granddaughters, who bring endless joy as we proudly step into our roles as “Ma and Pa.”

We recently moved to be near Karis’s adoptive parents, “Didi and Hop,” and her brother’s young family. Weekly visits often include trampoline fun and park walks. Danny’s family is in New Jersey, and Karis’s extended family is in Delaware, keeping us connected coast to coast.

Holidays are so special in our home; this is a chance for us to spend time together. We decorate the month prior, and always seem to take decorations down the day after the holiday. The time frame leading up to Halloween into the New Year is when we create most of our memories, trick or treating, hosting Thanksgiving and sleepovers to wake up on Christmas morning is when so much family magic happens.

Adoption in Our Lives

We’d like to share how our experiences of being parented—and of parenting children we didn’t give birth to—have shaped our understanding of family.

Karis lost her mom at 10 and her dad at 17. In the midst of grief, she was adopted by family friends in Boulder, where she re-learned unconditional love and what it means to be chosen and welcomed.

Danny has lived this truth too. He helped raise two boys who weren’t biologically his, and today he is “Dad” to Jakson, our 8-year-old. Their bond is truly special.

Karis also considers her grown stepchildren, Gracie and Jim, her own. Together, we’ve learned that family is not defined by blood, but by love, presence, and commitment.
