dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Our hearts go out to you. You are a blessing, and we are endlessly grateful to have crossed your path. We know this is one of life’s most difficult experiences and decisions you are going through and making right now. You are giving your child the infinite gift of life, with all of its possibilities. And to make someone else’s dreams of being a parent come true takes incredible compassion and strength. This dream is not just ours but one that our entire families share, and we can ensure your baby will be lifted up by love from every direction throughout their whole life.

Should you choose us, your baby will learn self-love, gratitude, courage, and kindness. We will take family trips to the beach every summer, read stories every night before bed, and spend every day finding joy in each other’s company. Your baby will grow up in a diverse and historic neighborhood, surrounded by community.

Your choice means so much to us. We have been looking forward to this moment as long as we’ve known each other and have worked to build a home for a family. Mama, you can make no wrong choices—your heart will lead you to the right place; we know it. We really believe this is our calling, and we would be so truly honored if you would consider us to care for your baby.

This dream is not just ours but one that our entire families share, and we can ensure your baby will be lifted up by love from every direction throughout their whole life.

About Us

We have been each other’s life partner and best friend for eight and a half years. Kate is an English teacher and Gay-Straight Alliance adviser at our city neighborhood’s public high school, and Andrew is a data analyst for a prominent research university. We love watching sitcoms and sci-fi, hanging out with our cats, and visiting family in the suburbs and down the shore. We work well as a couple because we are both introverts who value staying true to ourselves and always seeking to do the right thing, and we really simply enjoy each other’s company. Andrew is the cook of the household—all vegetarian, mostly homemade pizza. Kate is the interior decorator—she’s always making some new piece of art to hang on the walls.

Our Home & Pets

Every day we wake up grateful to live in a home full of joy in a beautiful city. We have three indoor cats (Pavarotti, Moxxi, and Meeko) and receive frequent visits from our block’s outdoor cats as well. We have lots of plants inside and in our backyard garden. We love our neighborhood’s easy access to public transit, and of course, the best part is having lots of family nearby. Our neighbors wave to us on our way to and from work and on walks to the library. Kate in particular is very proud to live in the community where she teaches and knows how hard teachers are working to do right by the children in our community.

Our Extended Family

Any child placed in our family will be blessed with an abundance of grandparents, aunts, and more. On Andrew’s side, our child will have a grandmother and her partner living just outside the city as well as an aunt and uncle, all of whom are looking forward to welcoming their new family member as much as they look forward to family hikes, bonfires, and meals.

On Kate’s side, our child will have regular visits with their grandma, grandpa, step-grandpa, great-grandparents, two adoring aunts (aged 22 and 12), and tons of cousins. They can’t wait to document our child’s life with endless scrapbooks, photo albums, and home videos. Grandpa lives in our city and will be around nearly daily to bring gifts of homemade pies and jokes. Everyone else is in Jersey, ready to take our child down the shore to catch crabs in the lagoon and learn to swim in the pool.

What Led Us To Adoption

Both of us have known we wanted to adopt since before we even met. It always felt like the best way to grow our family. Kate’s aunt and godmother adopted her daughters (Kate’s cousins) when Kate was very young, so Kate grew up with adopted family members who never felt any different from anyone else in the family. Being close with her aunt and cousins has been a huge inspiration to go on this journey. We have been dreaming of this for over a decade and can’t wait to find the child who was meant for us.
