Dear Mom,

Thank you so much for considering us as potential parents and our family as a potential home for your child. We are so humbled, and should you choose us, we would be so grateful. We love the children we have deeply and would love your child who comes to us through adoption just as deeply. Please know they will be loved, cared for, cherished, and supported throughout their entire life. They will be provided with the best education and have boundless opportunities to explore their interests and who they are as a person.

We are deeply committed to our faith, to our family and friends, and to leading meaningful and robust lives. We see this adoption process as part of our calling in life: driven by faith, rooted in family.

As a parent, we imagine this is a deeply complicated decision. Thank you for having the courage to engage in such an important and meaningful process for your child. We welcome the opportunity to get to know you and to explore what a relationship would look like. We wish you a safe, healthy pregnancy and hope you have a supportive network in these coming days. You and your child are in our prayers.

About Us

Hello! We are Kathleen and JR. We are both the oldest children with strong personalities. We share a commitment to excellence grounded in faith, humility, and a drive to apply our talent and blessings to making the world a better place. We’ve built an amazing, blended family and a successful global business through a combination of love, smarts, perseverance, and good old-fashioned grit. JR has a flair for the dramatic and commands any room he is in, which is a perfect complement to Kathleen’s quiet strength and pragmatism. After a decade of working together, JR now runs the business, and Kathleen runs the family non-profit. Our work takes us all over the world, and the kids come with us often. Maddie (21), Claire (19), and Emi (12) are our children from JR’s first marriage, and Hunter (9) is our son together. We love travel, reading, history, culture, and sports!

Our Home & Pets

We are city people at heart. We lived on the East Coast for decades but recently resettled in the Midwest so that Emi and Hunter can be closer to each other. (They are best friends.) Our home is walking distance to two amazing parks with a zoo, gardens, water activities, playgrounds, and sporting activities. We love walking to our favorite restaurants, neighborhood grocery stores, and coffee shops and walking our Boston terrier, Hank, to the park. We are a 15-minute drive to Hunter’s school. We care deeply about education and invest in sending him to an independent Catholic school that provides single gender and co-ed environments that nurture the whole child, mind and heart.

Our Extended Family

Our extended family begins with our blood relatives and goes beyond. The kids have maternal grandparents who are deeply involved in their lives and have a rich and meaningful connection to our family. Cousins see each other at holidays, travel together for sporting events, and have an annual “Cousins Week.”

At family dinners, we have a “question of the night.” During birthday dinners, the birthday girl or boy shares about what lessons they will leave in the past year and what they will take on to the next year. Each Christmas the kids get matching PJs they wear while opening gifts. We love the 4th of July; we have a huge flag and decorate the house patriotically. We typically spend Easters at a hotel at the beach in South Carolina with the best Easter egg hunt and candy table you will ever see!

We have deep friendships that extend 30+ years and often spend holidays and vacations with people we have known since each of us was in college. This robust community of family and friends is so supportive of our adoption journey and excited at the potential of another kiddo in the mix.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have four beautiful, hilarious, animated children and one crazy dog. We have room for more and believe love expands when it is shared. We have been incredibly blessed with a deeply connected family, strong network of friends and extended family, and meaningful careers. We have been contemplating for a long time about where to invest our time, energy, and love in the next chapter of our lives, and after much prayer and conversation, we have determined we would love to grow our family through adoption.
