dear expectant mother

We’d like to express our gratitude to you for taking the time to read our profile. We understand every adoption plan is unique, and we do not want to make any assumptions about what you may be looking for in potential adoptive parents.

Through our profile, we hope to give you a sense of who we are as individuals and as a couple. We’d love to share more about what we’re passionate about, what our lives look like day to day, our values, and what our relationships with family and friends look like and mean to us. Being open and honest with you is incredibly important to us, every step of the way.

We’re very grateful for the chance to share our story with you and look forward to the opportunity to get to know you - your story, your interests, your favorite movies, shows, or music, and any hopes for the future. We recognize we cannot truly understand what you're going through, but please know, if you choose us, your child will be loved beyond measure, supported unconditionally, and raised in a home full of care, laughter, and learning. We’re ready to grow, adapt, and give this parenting thing everything we’ve got - with our whole hearts.

Our Lifestyle

We're a couple that knows how to have fun and embrace laughter. You'll often find us making puns and belting out our favorite tunes in the car, especially Disney songs. We both grew up in Pennsylvania and crossed paths while studying video production in college. What began as a friendship quickly blossomed into a loving, joy-filled relationship. In June 2018, we exchanged vows, and five years later, we are still totally “harmonizing” in the car. Chris is a communications manager, while Katie thrives as a video producer. One of Chris’s passions is coaching wheelchair basketball. Katie often joins for tournaments and loves spending quality time with family and friends. Whether it's kayaking, conquering escape rooms, or retreating to cabins, we enjoy all adventures together. We also relish in the comfort of our home and relaxing by a fire and snuggling with our cats. We're excited to create a lifetime of memories filled with love and a spirit of adventure.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in a quiet neighborhood in Southwestern, PA. Our home is a three-bedroom, ranch-style house with a large backyard. The neighbors are friendly, with kids playing in the yards or biking in the street and people walking their dogs. Our favorite thing about where we live is that in 20 minutes you can be in the city with awesome restaurants, concerts, and sports games; or go the opposite way to be in the country, perfect for kayaking or just soaking up some nature.

We’ve got two super playful cats, Winnie and Wanda, who definitely keep things interesting. One of our favorite traditions is hosting a yearly Hocus Pocus night. We set up a screen in the backyard, invite friends over, and roast marshmallows around the firepit.

Our Family & Friends

Family means everything to us. We're really close with our loved ones and treasure the time we spend together. Katie comes from a big family with three sisters, who all have kids. Chris’s family is a bit smaller, he has one brother, but just as tight-knit. We’re lucky to live near our immediate and extended family, so get-togethers happen pretty often.

Some of our favorite memories are from summer cookouts at Katie’s parents’ house, playing cornhole, swapping funny stories, and watching the kids splash around in the pool. With seven nieces and one nephew, there’s always something going on! Whether it’s birthdays, school plays, or sporting events, there’s always a reason to gather and celebrate.

Seeing the kids grow up and have so much fun together is such a joy. The way their faces light up when their cousins arrive is the sweetest thing. We can’t help but imagine the joy of adding one more little cousin to the mix.

What We Love About Each Other

Chris’ disability offers our family a unique perspective that we know will naturally shape how we raise a child. Values like accepting others who may look differently, creative problem-solving, and independence will come naturally. We hope these values will allow a child to approach life with resilience and empathy. Interacting with our nieces and nephew has shown us how quickly kids learn these values without it being a big discussion. Chris’ disability also does not limit his ability to parent. We’ve safely adapted our space to support his involvement - from a modified stroller attachment for his wheelchair, to a crib with a side-opening door, to a changing table designed for both safety and comfort. Every detail reflects our commitment to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for our family.
