About Us

Katie T. is a Tennessee native. Katie S. is originally from Illinois but moved to Tennessee when her family relocated to the state. We both come from hardworking families that had limited resources and similar struggles but were surrounded by an endless amount of love. Katie T. is an avid runner and enjoys camping outdoors. Katie S. climbs in an indoor climbing gym and rides horses regularly. We have two nephews we spend time with whenever there is an opportunity! Katie T. is a certified public accountant at an accounting and consulting firm, and Katie S. is a master’s-level team lead in the region’s leading nonprofit provider of mental health, substance abuse, and social and victim services. Both of us completed master’s-level education at our respective universities while working full-time professions.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a subdivision that includes a private pool and playground. It is common to see someone walking their dog, children playing tag, or families working in their yards. We are within five to ten minutes of several daycares and schools. We love where we are located because we are close to several outdoor attractions across the city, including the Great Smoky Mountains! We have five dogs and two cats. Our dogs are named Blaze (rat terrier), Jordy (corgi), Ripley (Belgian malinois), Rocky (mini Australian shepherd), and Finn (Australian shepherd). Our cats are named Rick and Artie. We spoil them with treats from our local pet store and often take our dogs to the dog park and for long walks around our neighborhood.

Our Extended Family

Family is an important part of our lives. Traditionally, we spend most holidays, birthdays, and special occasions with both sides of our family. Whether it is Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July, game night, or football season, there is always a reason for us to get together.

Katie T.’s immediate family consists of her mother, older sister, and brother-in-law. Her sister has one child, who is seven years old. All of her family live within 30 minutes of each other and spend a large amount of time together. They are a major support system for her. She has a large extended family of several aunts, uncles, and cousins who live nearby as well.

Katie S.’s immediate family consists of her mother, father, younger sister, and older brother. Katie’s parents and older brother live close by, while her sister resides in SC. Her younger sister and older brother are both married. Her brother has one son, who is one and a half years old, and has another one on the way. We enjoy spending time at each other’s homes. There is never a dull moment. A typical family get-together includes watching the Packers play football, cooking, and lots of laughter!

What Led Us To Adoption

After struggling with infertility treatments, we decided adoption offered a beautiful opportunity for us to become parents. We have been blessed with a great life, but our desire to be parents has always been in our minds. Together, we researched the different options available and decided adoption would be the best path for us. We found this pathway presented an opportunity for us to work with a birthmother to help fulfill her hopes and dreams as well as our hopes and dreams of parenthood. We firmly believe adoption is our intended path and you were meant to be a part of it.
