About Us

Aloha! We are Danny, Ke’ala, and ‘Anela; we live in Hawai’i. We are an adventurous family that loves to spend time together doing activities outdoors. We own and operate a family business as a general contractor, building custom homes and commercial spaces. Ke’ala also works part-time as a registered nurse to fulfill her passion of helping others. We love to spend our downtime either in the ocean, fishing or swimming with the dolphins from our boat, or on our six-acre farm, where we have lots of animals and fun toys to stay busy. The beach is only a few minutes away and is always a great place to end the day. We met 14 years ago and were married in 2015. ‘Anela is six years old and a joyful ball of energy!

Our Home & Pets

We are currently in the process of building our dream home in Hawaii. Our farmhouse is on a six-acre lot facing the ocean. It’s a small country community full of aloha (love). In the meantime, we are renting a home nearby, which has lots of fun things to do. We walk to the dog park and playground every day. Our school is amazing and specializes in performance arts and swimming. Our family loves animals, and our pets include three dogs, two cats, two bunnies, two goats, and a sulcata tortoise. A pony will be joining us in October!

Our Extended Family

Ke’ala’s parents and sister live in a nearby town and are a regular part of our lives, either at family dinners or weekend BBQs. Ke’ala has numerous cousins on the same island as well, who also have children. This summer we had fun trips to the water park, to the beach, and horseback riding with all the kids.

Danny was born in Michigan and grew up partially in Colorado as well; his family lives in both Colorado and Michigan. We like to spend time visiting our Colorado family in the winter for ski trips to the mountains. Danny’s mom, dad, and older sister all live in Colorado; Danny’s older sister has three children. Danny’s brother lives in northern Michigan, where we own a nearby cabin and like to spend summertime on the lake with our family and friends. Danny’s older brother has four children.

What Led Us To Adoption

As a family of three, we have always talked about having another child; we tried for years after ‘Anela was born but learned we are unable to conceive another child. As ‘Anela got older, the discussion continued as a family, and ‘Anela agreed she wanted a little brother or sister to love and grow up with. The decision was final; it was time to adopt! We are excited as a family to expand our love and grow our family. Ke’ala, who was adopted, knows firsthand the miracle of adoption and the love that can be given and wants to share this with our second child.
