dear expectant mother

Thank you so much for the gift of considering placing your child in our home. We know this must be a very difficult decision, but please know that if you choose us, your child will know a life of love and support. We will do all we can to give your child the best opportunities to discover their true passion in life and to grow up to be self-assured, happy, and passionate contributors to their families and communities.

No family is perfect, but we hope we can offer your child the material and emotional support they need through all of life’s ups and downs. We are fiercely loyal people, committed to our family and close friends, and your child will have an extended group of supporters across the country supporting them through their journey.

Tom commits to offering your child his passion for the world, its people and diversity, reading, and intellectual pursuits. Kellen commits to offering his love of the outdoors, gardening, skiing, and an incredible gift for connecting with others and making meaningful lifelong connections. Together we will offer a loving and supportive home.

Thank you so much for considering us!

Our parents sacrificed to provide us with the best possible opportunities, and we are inspired to do the same.

About Us

We are a fun couple living in Washington. Tom is Director of Global Security for a global non-profit, and Kellen is an IT product management strategy consultant. We both lived and met in Washington, DC, before deciding in 2018 to make a change of coasts and scenery to move to the Pacific Northwest. We love to travel and explore the world, and we look to bring those experiences back to our home through a passion for cooking and baking. Our personalities complement each other: Tom is quieter and more cerebral, and Kellen is chatty and more social; the combination makes us stronger as a couple. We enjoy fitness activities, exploring our city and surrounding area, and staying active in the broader community. We love to walk our dog, George, in our neighborhood, and we spend time staying with close friends across the country.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a new four-bedroom townhome in an urban neighborhood in Washington. Washington is a great place to raise a child! Our neighborhood is diverse, with people from all over the U.S. and a large international population. We live in close proximity to high-quality public schools, and we benefit from being close to some of the best outdoor mountain and water landscapes in the country. Our dog, George, is a big part of our life and family. He is full of personality but gentle as well. We are sure he will be a child’s best friend and biggest defender.

Our Extended Family

Tom is from a family of four, with his mom, dad, and younger sister. They all grew up in Ohio, where most of his family still resides. His parents have a home in the mountains of North Carolina, where we love to celebrate holidays and time in the summer. Tom’s family enjoys visiting the national parks.

Kellen is also from a family of four, with his mom, dad, and older sister. His family still lives in Colorado. We love to go on family vacations every year, and this year was in Greece. Kellen’s mom was an elementary teacher, and we hope to learn a lot from her while teaching our own child.

As important as our nuclear families are, we also firmly believe our chosen families—our close friends—are essential parts of our lives. We celebrate Friendsgiving each year with close friends in DC, and we are excited our friends are in the stage of life where they are having babies, providing lots of opportunities for young “cousins” to be a part of our future child’s life.

What Led Us To Adoption

We got married in 2018, and having a child has always been one of our life goals. Our parents sacrificed to provide us with the best possible opportunities, and we are inspired to do the same. We want to adopt because we believe it offers us a wonderful opportunity to give a child a loving home and a lifetime of support. In the midst of a changing world, we believe we can offer stability and experiences that will give a child a strong sense of independence and self-awareness of who they are and the broader world around them. We know bringing a baby into our lives will bring us such joy and allow us to grow our family for the future.
