dear expectant mother

We would be unbelievably honored and eternally grateful if you were to consider us to be your child’s adoptive parents. We are both best friends with our siblings and want our children to have those relationships. We had always hoped for a larger family, but after losing our first daughter during pregnancy and learning of our infertility after Fiona was born, we are hopeful to adopt more children. Because of our experiences, we cherish parenthood that much more.

We are devoting all of our energy to parenting. Kelsey makes sock and finger puppets, magnets, and color matching games. She’s brought all of her early education teaching experience home to give her children the best start they can have. Thomas built a whole playground in the backyard and pulls out his own childhood toys to play with our daughter. We bake often, to the point that if we stand in the kitchen too long, Fiona brings her step stool over to climb up and see what we’re doing, asking “Cooking?” By far our favorite activity we’ve done was renting baby goats for an afternoon that came and played in our yard. We’ve seen Santa at the zoo and the aquarium, and we went to Disney on Ice. We’ve loved these experiences, and we look forward to doing these things every year. We want to give our children the richest childhood imaginable, and we would be eternally grateful and blessed to be able to share all of this with your child.

About Us

Thomas is a senior systems engineer for a hospital and university, and Kelsey is currently staying at home with our daughter, Fiona, but has a decade in early childhood education and has also worked in hospitality management. We met over ten years ago and have been married for five. Sparks were flying at our first date, which we didn’t want to end. We had planned on a lunch date, but it went on to an evening show and hours of talking. Afterward, Thomas’s brother asked how our first date went, and he said, “I’m going to marry that girl.” We’ve been happy together ever since, and now we have a loving family with our two-year-old daughter, golden retriever, and two cats, but we hope for a bigger family.

Our Home & Pets

We live on a quiet street in a small town, right around the corner from a playground. We have a swingset, playhouse, and hopscotch in the backyard. We turned the mud room into a messy playroom with sand and water tables as well as an arts and crafts station. We have a playroom upstairs with the active play toys, such as a ball pit and slide. We have a magnet board at children’s height with homemade magnets that Kelsey enjoys making. We are very active in the community and have memberships to several places, such as a science center, the zoo, the library, and the Crayola Factory. We want our children to have a childhood full of rich experiences.

Our Extended Family

Our favorite tradition every year is to go to Kelsey’s cabins in Maine. They’ve been in the family for generations, and we spend a couple weeks every summer with family and friends on the crystal clear lake, play games, catch frogs, and eat lobster. Every year we drive to the top of a mountain to see the sun rise, and then we spend a few hours on the beach looking for jellyfish and racing the waves. After that, we go to our favorite restaurant for breakfast as soon as it opens.

Thomas’s family has a reunion every spring where family comes from all over to play games and laugh together. Christmas is also always a big to-do. We spend Christmas Eve with Thomas’s family and Christmas Day with Kelsey’s. We also go to the Renaissance Fair every October.

Both of our families were excited to learn we are adopting. Kelsey’s uncle and Thomas’s cousin were adopted, and Thomas’s parents took in his cousins when he was a child. Family is essential to both families, and they are always eager for new additions.

We had always dreamed of having more than one child. After our daughter was born, we learned we are unlikely to be able to conceive again. We had always planned to adopt someday. Kelsey’s uncle was adopted, and so it has always been important to her to adopt. We are hoping to now. We dream of a dinner table full of siblings joking and laughing. We have so much love to give, and we hope for Fiona to have a best friend to grow up with.
