Kevin & Christon

Family Type: Gay Couple
State We live in: North Carolina

dear expectant mother

We respect the magnitude of your decision, and we respect that this choice is one that is deeply personal and includes a great many reasons why this is the right choice for you. We respect your body and the journey you are on. It is one of mixed emotions and conflicting thoughts. We are all just trying to do our best in life despite not having all the answers.

But here is what we do know: You are selfless, you are enormously generous, and you are magnificently strong. We honor you for coming to this decision to help people like us to become parents. We know we could be the answer for some of your doubts. Your love for your baby has brought you here, and believe it or not, it has brought us here too. This has allowed us to present ourselves and assure you that we would walk with you along this journey.

You would forever be Mom, and we would simply serve as an extension of you for the baby. Your love, your well wishes, and your hopes for the baby would forever exist through us. We would be your team. If chosen, this also changes our lives as much as it does yours.

With love,
Kev & Chris

About Us

Hello! We enjoy world travel, are foodies, and often travel in pursuit of new dining experiences. To combat our rising interest in food and slowing metabolisms, we remain extremely active. Our two dogs, Zeke and Zulu, aid us in our quest to remain fit, helping us add hiking and frequent walks to our gym routines. Kevin is an extroverted introvert. He enjoys painting, cooking and baking, music, home projects, tennis, and being outdoors. He has worked in aviation for over 20 years and has seen most of the world. Christon is an expressive extrovert. He is the sweet tooth of the household (begrudgingly cutting back); enjoys fitness, travel, and reading; and has an eye for style. He has worked in finance for almost 20 years. Together, we ensure to honor our cultures, remain in touch with family, build a supportive community, and push each other to achieve our goals.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a small, family- and pet-friendly community in North Carolina. On our cul-de-sac, the neighborhood kids play freely, and the community looks out for one another. We have a generous backyard, making fresh air and exercise easy for our two sweet dogs (ages three and five). We are conveniently located within walking distance of grocery stores, ice cream shops, gyms, banks, a day care, and two urgent cares. Our home is a short drive to the downtown area and under 20 minutes to the airport. Our home is our sanctuary. We spend a lot of time cultivating a space that is welcoming, well designed, clean, and serene.

Our Extended Family

Kevin is one of four brothers. He has seven nieces, two nephews, and five grand-nieces/nephews. He is from a large family with over 20 cousins. Though they do not see each other often, they always pick up wherever they left off. Being from Trinidad, Carnival and Christmas are huge traditions for the family. When visiting Trinidad, there is always a trip to the beach to “lime.”

Christon is the last of six siblings (four sisters and one brother). He has five nephews and one niece. While his family is smaller in scale, he is very close with his maternal cousins, having grown up more like siblings.

We are always planning weekend sleepovers, road trips, or any fun reason to get together. Christon’s tradition is to celebrate at least one person’s birthday per year. Together, our tradition is to decorate the Christmas tree, do one big trip somewhere new per year, to have a healthy but unnecessarily competitive karaoke party, or just watch TV on our comfy couch. In everything we do, either with our families or together, we always find space to laugh and create memories. We like to leave a place better than we met it.

What Led Us To Adoption

We started this journey four years ago with the intent of working with a surrogate. Over the years, our mindset changed. We understood this was not about us and that a child did not necessarily have to be from us genetically to learn, grow, and be loved by us. What an ultimate gift this would be to receive from a mother. It would then be our job to forever repay such a gift by creating a life for a child that is safe, nurturing, and successful. We are also bursting with love, lessons, and joy to share. The opportunity to do so motivates us every day.
