dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We want to start by thanking you for the courage you’ve already demonstrated by entering into this process and for considering adoption. We understand this decision is not made easily, and we want to honor you every step of the way. As hopeful parents, our goal is to support you through this process and to give you the confidence that we are the right family to raise and take care of your precious child. We believe every child deserves a loving home and a secure future, and we are committed to providing the care and security you want for him or her, should you choose us.

We also want to get to know you, as much as you feel comfortable, so that the baby knows the person who prioritized his or her well-being above all. From childhood to adulthood, we want him or her to understand that he or she was birthed and chosen with love. If chosen, we promise to be forever committed to your child’s health and happiness, inside and out. Please know they will always be wanted and loved, and we can’t wait to meet them.

It’s hard to describe feeling excitement about people we’ve never met or a process we know will have its own story, but we do. We are excited to start this journey, hopefully with you and your baby, and we hope that journey starts soon. Thank you for considering us.

With love and respect,
Latoya & Irene

About Us

We often joke about how different we are—Latoya being the quiet, creative, patient one and Irene being more outgoing, structured, and serious. What connects us and keeps us balanced is that we have shared values, we enjoy sports (playing and watching), we love movies (everything from romantic comedy to the Marvel series), and we like to vacation where there is blue water and white sand. Latoya grew up in a small town and is more adventurous and definitely more outdoorsy than Irene. Irene is a city slicker whose idea of camping involves a sleeping bag in the living room. We are both compassionate, loyal people and tirelessly root for each other to win. Winning at work for Latoya now means designing a new building or a set for a local theater company; Latoya was an early education teacher for 12 years. For Irene, winning at work means helping a large retailer be successful.

Our Home & Pets

We have a home that is ready for more energy, laughter, and just plain old noise and fun! We live in a suburban neighborhood with lots of kids and even more activities. We live in one of the top school districts in the state, and the elementary and high schools are within walking distance. We have a community clubhouse with a pool right across the street, and our neighbors are always planning joint swim lessons, food truck nights, cookie making classes, and family fun days. There are also many pets in the neighborhood, including our fur baby, Lilo. Lilo is a Boston terrier with a lot of spunk. She may be hard on the eyes but is definitely easy on the heart. She loves snuggling, basking in the sun, chasing tennis balls, and running around in the yard.

Our Extended Family

Family is everything to us, and boy do we have a large immediate and extended family. Irene is one of five children, and Latoya is one of eight. All of that together equals several dozen nephews and nieces; lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and three grandparents who are blessed to still be with us. A fun fact is that Latoya’s grandfather is over 100 years old!

Familytime happens often and includes food, music and games like Taboo, Uno, and Heads Up. We also like to pretend we can sing with a traveling karaoke mic. Whether it’s a birthday celebration, holiday gathering, or just because it’s Wednesday, we always manage to find a way to get together, laugh, and fellowship.

Our chosen family is also important in our lives, so carving out time to spend with close friends is key. Did we mention food? Good eating is central. Family, friendship, food and fun sums us up!

What Led Us To Adoption

Adoption has always been part of our family plan. And while having biological children is no longer an option for us, we can’t wait to experience the blessing of adding a child to our family and the lifelong lessons that will bring. We’re also excited about meeting and getting to know you and look forward to discovering everything parenthood has in store for us.
