dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We want to thank you for considering us to care for your child. We understand this is a very difficult decision and one that will not be made lightly. If you choose us, we promise to give your child the best possible future with every opportunity we possibly can. We intend to surround the child with a loving, supportive, and nurturing environment; they will feel wanted every single day.

Although it is a long way off, we are already looking forward to school plays, sports, and helping with homework. We have been planning future educational outings to museums, historical sites, and other places of interest where we can all learn together.

We have both dreamed of being dads for a long time. The idea of having a small fishing buddy, building a dollhouse or forts, and celebrating family movie nights are all things we’ve imagined but never thought we could do, and we certainly cannot do it on our own. If you can help us make our dream come true, we would be eternally grateful.

Sincerely,
Levi and Steven

About Us

We met in October of 2011 through an online social media platform, and the attraction was instant. We spent much of the following year meeting for dates, even though we lived in two separate towns 36 minutes away from each other. By June of 2012 we knew this was it and bought our first house together. Levi has always had a career in the healthcare industry but is transitioning from the clinical environment to more of an informatics role as a business analyst. Steven, on the other hand, has made the leap from retail to pharmacy tech. We are both lucky to work for the same organization and have the same schedule. Having the same schedule allows us to really connect and do the things we enjoy doing, including camping, hiking, gardening, and cooking. Steven has recently started 3D printing and is excited to see where it takes him.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a quiet Colorado neighborhood just down the road from the local high school. It’s the kind of neighborhood where you can still leave your doors unlocked and your neighbors wave at you as you pass by. The community is very family oriented, with open green spaces where families can bring pets, kids play sports, and everyone spends time with loved ones. Our house is very close to the mountains, so wildlife abounds; we frequently have deer and squirrels in our yard. Being so close to the mountains, we have easy access to hiking trails we take our two dogs on. Our dogs are Oreo, an 11-year-old shih tzu, and Luna, a four-year-old greyhound/Lab mix.

Our Extended Family

Levi has a set of grandparents, one aunt and uncle with three cousins, two great-uncles, and three second cousins, all of whom he absolutely adores. Steven has a set of grandparents, a mom, two sisters, a niece and nephew, and several aunts and cousins. Our families are all in the area and love to get together for any reason at all.

We live in beautiful Colorado, and it has no shortage of things to do, from hiking trails and camping to shopping and fine dining. We can spend time with family and friends anywhere and it can feel like home. We love game nights with friends and family, whether it's board games or pulling out one of our game platforms and challenging each other to a match in some videogame. We value the time we spend with those around us.

Large barbecues aren’t unheard of for us; our families like to smoke food and experiment with different recipes. Food is the centerpiece at all of our gatherings, and no one ever leaves hungry.

What Led Us To Adoption

We realized there is something missing in our lives and our relationship that we can’t fix on our own. As a gay couple, we are unable to have a biological child, and surrogacy is not an option for us. Adoption is the only logical way for us to raise a child and provide that safe, loving, and nurturing environment surrounded by friends and family who will love the child just as much as we do. We are asking for an opportunity we wouldn’t otherwise get: to have a complete family.
