dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We thank you for considering us as a family for your baby. We write to you knowing you will read this while making a very difficult decision. We cannot begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now.

Welcoming your baby to our family would overflow our joy. We want you to know we are grateful for the opportunity to be parents, and we commit to raising your baby with a deep support for their unique talents, passions, and hobbies, whatever they may be. Life in our home will include lots of reading, board games, cooking, hugs, laughter, learning, music, and dancing. Our extended families and friend circles will be overjoyed as well, with many young cousins and friends to play with. All of our parents are recently retired and will absolutely delight in frequent visits with their grandbaby. We are already a multicultural family, and your child’s heritage will be celebrated and incorporated into the traditions we share. We will also share their adoption story with them regularly so they grow up knowing their story started with you, a courageous woman.

We are grateful to you for reading a bit about us as you seek the right family. As you make this decision, we are happy to provide more information or answer your questions in order for you to find the best match. We would consider it our greatest honor to be trusted with raising your child.

Sincerely and with gratitude,
Lisa and Salil

About Us

We met online in 2014 and discovered shared hobbies: travel and a love of languages. Salil traveled globally a lot for work in those days, and Lisa went on one big trip each year. Lisa speaks English and Spanish. Salil is fluent in English and Hindi. Together we have enjoyed many road trips since our first meeting, traveled to India each year to visit Salil’s family, and worked in Australia for four years. Exploring our local community and the world has been a great joy for us and has taught us a lot about other people and their beautiful cultures. We also enjoy our time together at home with our dog Bruno. We love board games! We listen to a variety of music. We have fun with friends. Helping build community at church and in our city is important to us. Our love for each other has grown deeper through experiencing life together.

Our Home

Our city is so full of our nation’s history, and we appreciate the many museums, cultural activities, and parks! Our neighborhood is culturally and racially diverse, with a number of schools and community centers within walking distance of our home. We live in a traditional row house, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. We enjoy our big, open kitchen as we can cook together and have friends and family enjoy a meal in our home. Our home is warm and is decorated with many memories and much love.

Our Extended Family

Salil grew up in India with a younger brother, supportive parents, and regular family time with aunts, uncles, and cousins. Many of his extended family live in India, Singapore, Canada, and the U.S. This means that every week we have one international family video call so we can see each other and watch our first niece grow up! She was born at the end of 2020. We try to have one family visit each October to celebrate Diwali together.

Lisa grew up in Wisconsin with a younger sister and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins in her extended family. The family still stays connected with summer bonfires and a big Christmas Eve dinner each year. We visit everyone in Wisconsin a few times each year, and her recently retired parents visit us each year as well.

Growing up in different countries, our families are quite different culturally but very similar in that there is so much love! Both of our families enjoy a big meal with aunts, uncles, and cousins all gathered around. We all enjoy playing Scrabble and dancing! We all share values of education, compassion, equality, justice, and peace.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have so much love together and so much fun together! Lisa’s grandparents were foster parents and adopted two children. We both have dear friends who adopted and shared their journey with us. Before even meeting, the two of us felt we would one day adopt children. What an honor it would be to be parents! We believe all of this love in our life is to be shared.
