Our names are Makayla and Macaela. Same names…weird, right? It was almost a deal breaker when we met! But we overlooked the fact that we both had the same name when we met at our first duty station. We fell in love because we both had a love for the outdoors. We like to fish and camp. We are both active duty military, but we are always making time to get out of the house. We are both very active and enjoy a daily workout routine. On the weekends, we meal prep, do things around the house, and take the time to relax. We love watching football on Sundays during the season, hosting friends at the house, and enjoying the outdoors.
We live in a quiet, military family-oriented neighborhood in Missouri. Our neighborhood is filled with children of all ages, and four schools are nearby. Our home is two stories with three bedrooms, two baths, a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, and a laundry room. We also have an open family room with a full bathroom downstairs. We share our home with our two loving dogs and three cats. Our first fur baby has been with us since the start of our relationship. Our second pup was adopted from the shelter and has almost completed our family. We also have three cats, two of which have been with Macaela since she joined the Army and one that we recently rescued in 2020 during our time in Colorado.
We both have involved and loving families. We each have one sibling. Makayla has an older sister who has two boys, with another baby on the way. Macaela has an older brother who has two boys. We spend all of the holidays together with family. We both have a lot of cousins, aunts, and uncles. Both of our parents are involved in our lives as well as grandparents, whom we see often. We flip flop major holidays with each side of our families so we get to see our extended family multiple times throughout the year. On Thanksgiving, we typically go to a Christmas tree lighting followed by cutting down a Christmas tree the following day. We are very fortunate to have so much unconditional love and support from both our extended families.
We tried for two years to have a biological child, with no luck unfortunately. Although we were very discouraged, adoption has always been in our plans. We have so much love in our hearts and are ready for a child of our own. We would love to be able to help a birthmother during what could be a challenging time for her. We are excited to have this opportunity to be able to welcome a child into our home alongside a loving and accepting extended family.
