dear expectant mother

Thank you for taking this step of being brave and reaching out. We can’t imagine what you’re going through as you read this, but we want you to know that whatever path you choose, we are rooting for you.

If you choose us as future parents for your child, we promise to love and protect your child with all we have. From reading bedtime stories and making breakfast every morning to helping with homework and packing school lunches with love notes until they’re too old for it (then doing it anyway) - we promise to always be there. Our mothers were dedicated to helping us pursue our dreams by always putting our needs before their own. We will give that kind of support and dedication to your child.
We promise to always do what’s right, even when it’s hard. We promise to love and accept your child for whoever they want to become and to help them grow into the best version of themselves. We promise to tell them how much love and care went into your decision.

Most of all, we want you to know how much this means to us and to thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We truly hope our paths cross again soon, but if they don’t, we wish you all the best.

Sincerely,
Sarah & Mary

About Us

We were introduced in 2014 through a mutual friend, instantly connecting over a similar sense of humor. We got to know each other during our “record nights”, where we would play our favorite records and share stories about ourselves. These nights made us inseparable, leading us down the road that gave us our first home, our dog Winston, and getting married in 2017.
Sarah is the lead surgical assistant for an oral surgeon at a private practice. Mary works for a sporting goods company, where she’s been for seventeen years. Our jobs allow us a wonderful work/life balance so we are able to enjoy what we love doing together like going to concerts, beach days with friends, weekend getaways, exploring our city and of course, record nights.
We’re just two best friends who were lucky enough to fall in love and start our adventure together.

Our Home & Pets

Our house sits on a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood that is safe, quiet, and family-friendly. We’re close with all of our neighbors, often enjoying walks, cookouts, and pool parties together. Our favorite place to be in our home is either the kitchen cooking dinner or hanging out on our back porch, listening to music. We live in a coastal town that has multiple beaches, parks, museums, outdoor concerts, and farmer's markets. Our town is also dog friendly, so we usually have our dog, Winston, with us. His personality fits his appearance; he’s a sweet little teddy bear who loves giving kisses, going on adventures, and posing for pictures. He told us that he cannot wait to be a big brother!

Our Extended Family

We both have loving and supportive families and friends who are thrilled at the prospect of us becoming adoptive parents. We have been lucky to rely on these people for love, guidance, and support through all the good times and bad.

Mary has one older brother, who she is very close with. Her parents live across town, so we spend lots of nights making dinner, talking, and watching sports together. We are all die-hard Duke fans, so most of the college basketball season is spent cheering around the TV. Sarah has an older brother and sister. Although they don’t live nearby, we make it a priority to stay connected through FaceTime, group chats, and family vacations. Sarah’s brother has two children who are excited to finally have a cousin. We see her parents every other weekend where we play board games, watch TV shows and try out new restaurants together.

When possible, we love celebrating the big holidays with both families all together. From Easter cornhole tournaments and Thanksgiving 5Ks to Christmas Eve movie marathons and everything in between, we cannot wait to share our traditions and families’ love with a child.

What Led Us To Adoption

The decision to pursue adoption came easily to us because we have been discussing it since we first started dating. We have both always dreamed of being parents and felt adoption was the right path for us. In the past few years, we have been blessed to witness our friends' and neighbors’ adoption journeys and know the amount of love they share together as a family. We cannot wait to share in that same love and joy that comes from adopting a child.
